my boy is just over 4 months old and for the last few nights has started rolling over onto his tummy...once he's there he's not very good a rolling back.

Last night I eventually let him sleep on his tummy, is this okay? Should I be trying to stop him rolling? Or is this impossible? Also his arms get stuck in the cot bars...help! I am concerned about this....what should I do???

Thank you

It is fine. Once they are able to roll over the best thing to do is to let them get on with it. Otherwise you will simply teach him a sleep problem - that he needs you every time he moves, which of course he doesn't. Just make sure that the room is cool and he isn't geting overheated - same as usual. Is he in a sleeping bag? They are brilliant for wrigglers who get out from under the blanket or get tangled up.

oh thank you.yes in a gro bag. So I should just let him do his own thing? More reassurance appreciated! x

Agree with the sleeping bag/grobag comment. One of the best baby buys ever. And does he actually get stuck? Mine usually has a limb or two sticking out if he is in his cot in the day without a growbag, but he can get them back in himself.

It's fine - just let him do his own thing.

With regard to the getting stuck in the bars, eventually they seem to become more aware of the space around them and don't get stuck anymore. If he cries because he's really stuck then obviously move him, but otherwise don't worry too much about it - it will stop soon enough.

Dd slept on her front with her face into the mattress, bum in the air and ankles crossed from the time she was about 11 weeks old until she was nearly 4 - it's pretty common for them to prefer being on their front.

ah thanks, I really mean that. Last night I was in and out of his room putting him onto his back, no sooner had I got back into bed he had rolled over again (can see him on the monitor!) His arm was sticking out through the cot, worried about this and him suffocating! He wont will he? Can you tell I'm a first time mum?!

So I will be more chilled out tonight...and let him do what he wants to do. x
