Help with naps

So, I know the advice is to follow a routine, putting them down sleepy but awake in a dark room, but my 3 month old just cries if I try this, even if I know she's tired. I've tried putting her Ewan the Dream Sheep on. Occasionally she falls asleep but wakes about 15-20 mins later. What do you advise? At night she's quite good, even though she feeds to sleep. It's naps that are the problem. I don't want to be reliant on buggy/car like I was for her brother. She will sleep in the sling if I'm out and about but I really want her to be able to nap in her crib too. Thanks X

‘The advice’ - there is all sorts of advice :) you can try anything. Does cuddling/feeding to sleep work?

Feeding to sleep works if she can then sleep on me, but I also have a toddler and so that's why I need to be able to put her down for naps at least some of the time, if possible. If I feed to sleep and attempt to transfer she wakes with the transfer (except at night time!).

How about letting her nap in a bouncer? You could try to bouncer her fully from awake to asleep in the bouncer, then leave her there. When she stirs awake, try restarting the bouncing to see if you can lull back to sleep.

My DS was the same. Fed to sleep and held for naps. All I can say is it gradually got better with him being transferred. I think at about 5 months, I had to go upstairs to feed as he got so distracted, I fed to sleep but he then let me transfer him to the bed and I was free! Fast forward to now (7 months) And he’s abke to self settle for most naps and bedtime. I worried in the start that I would have to hold and feed to sleep forever, but it does get better as they get older. Try waiting until he is in a deep sleep then put him down. I used to be able to put him down on a nice soft cushion on the couch and be able to keep an eye on him. Now all naps are upstairs.
