Are co-sleeper cots worth it?

Just that really. I'm just thinking about whether it's worth having one. I'm likely to have an ELCS so thought it might make the nighttime a bit easier.

If anyone could tell me how useful they found them and how long they last I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.

I had one for DD2 and wish I'd bought it for DD1. We had to stop using it at around 6 months though as she started trying to pull herself up.

With DD1 I had a cot and took one side off and butted it up to the bed. But in hindsight it was a PITA as I had to scoot down to the bottom of the bed to get out which was difficult after an EMCS.

If you're planning on having more than one baby I think it's worth the investment.

I had the bednest, absolutely loved it. 2dc, used 6 months each time. Side down acts like a bridge so no gap for them to fall/roll into and you can see them if the side is up.
Never had an issue with duvet but side up would sort that anyway.

We had the Next2me and just put the side up whenever DS was in it... so no lifting him in and out, but there was a barrier once he started moving (and he was able to drag himself around long before he could roll).

Once he grew out of that (8months) we got an Ikea gulliver cot, and pushed that up against the side of the bed. On the highest setting it’s parallel with the top of our mattress. Lifting him in and out is a pain (he’s bloody heavy now), but it’s still easier than getting out of bed and much nicer to still have him next to me in the morning.
