Whacking head on cot

Since he started rolling DS wakes himself up crying, 2-3 times a night, by whacking his head really hard against the cot bars when rolling. It’s so hard we feel it in our bed as his cot us sidecar’d to our bed! I’m not surprised he cries.

Cot bumper? (I know they aren’t recommended for SIDS but I’m more thinking are they thick enough to help cushion the impact)
Corrugated cardboard? Foam core board? Any other thoughts on how to cushion the impact for his poor little skull?

TIA

We have air mesh bumpers, which I think are less of a SIDS risk. I found out about them on here (wanted something for the hot spell to stop un-Grobagged baby getting limbs caught between the bars!).

Or might he need a bigger cot?

My DD used to do the same thing, we tried things like putting a cellular blanket there but it didnt really help so we just left her and she quickly learnt how big her cot was and stopped, which also really helped when we took the sides off, we did ask for advice off the health visitor and she said not to worry, its normal and they wont actually hit themselves hard enough for it to really hurt them xx

Thanks guys. We have a cot-bed on order for him but it’s mostly I think caused by him being really mobile forwards, but unable to reverse out again Confused
