Do I need both cot and Moses basket?

Do we need a Moses basket as well as a cot for our baby when they arrive? We were thinking of getting a cot for the bedroom, but not sure if the baby would sleep there during the day as well as night, or in a more portable Moses basket during the day?

Best set up for us was normal cot with the side off, and a sleepyhead.

Yup!

We will have a swinging crib in our bedroom (mine from when I was a baby!) and a moses basket downstairs.
Eventually get a cot when baby is ready to move into their room.

Baby is very unlikely to fit in a swinging crib for 6 months!

@TittyGolightly both of my children used it until they were 7 months old.

Bouncy chairs are great as a place to keep a baby generally! Whilst you cook or shower or whatever. We had a fisher price foresty one that vibrated and both my dc liked it. If they fell asleep in it then that's where they napped!

We had a moses basket for DD1 but she grew out of it by 4 weeks. It didn't help that she liked to sleep with her arms outstretched. We never bothered with a moses basket for our other 4DC. They weng straight into a cot in our room and either a bouncy chair of their pram downstairs.

Thanks everyone! All really great ideas :) a colleague has suggested the Chicco next to me crib, which you can adjust to be the same height as your bed. It looks great! If anyone has any views on this particular model, let me know...
