DS is 20 monts and goes to bed like a dream! But......from about 2am he is waking up crying and will be settled with a short pick up and cuddle for about an hour and then he's awake again. This goes on until about 5:30am when he then gets up!!

I've tried letting him cry and reassuring him in his cot - no luck. We also have a 4 year old who has to get up for school so am keen to keep the noise down hence I now feel the situation is getting out of control!!!

Funny you shopuld say all this - my dd who is 27months is also a generally good sleeper, but have just had the night from hell in that she woke just beofre 2am and has not really gone back down until just now.

Anyway, when she was a bit younger and often waking up and trying it hard to settle, i ended up converting her cot in to bed form. She was often waking up with her head 'stuck' in a corner and would then take ages to go back to sleep. Since converting it when she was 22 / 23 months her sleep pattern got much better. I do keep a safety gate at her door though!

Good luck!

Don't think he is thirsty/hungry as he settles so quickly, crying stops as soon as I pick him up. But I will put a sippy cup of water in his cot tonight to see if that makes a difference. Had a good meal last night - veggie burgers, potoatoes and broccolli and ate most of it (could be a growth spurt?)

The cold one maybe the answer - we don't have cental heating as we're in Cyprus and although the days are warmer up the nights can still be a bit cool! We've had to give up on Gro Bags as he gets tangled up as he moves around and that was waking him up!!! Now using duvets and blankets, but when I go into him he seems quite cosy. Thought about putting him to bed with a fleece on top of his pjs.

So think he might be hungry but it's not that he's not offered loads of food during the day, he just chooses not to eat it! He seems to want to fill up on milk!

We gave him a bottle during the night last night and he slept soo well. Just don't want to go down the night time feed again at his age!

Any advice would be welcome!
