7 month old sleeps well but an early riser

my 7 month old goes to bed about 7.30pm and now sleeps through until 5am, she then wakes up for a feed (i am still breastfeeding and she is on 3 solid meals a day) and sometimes we get another hour but other days shes ready to get up, then 2 hours later she seems to need to go back to sleep again, i know shes doing pretty well but these early mornings are hard work! anyone got any advice, maybe things will improve when she starts moving around? thanks

nope, welcome to the world of children. You will now go to bed at the time you used to go out and get up at the time you used to come home! After a while you will wonder just how did you used to manage to stay in bed til 9am never mind 10!

Seriously though you are exremely lucky she does what she does, Put your feet up when she goes back for her nap at 9am.

Agree with furball, sorry You could try delaying the first nap of the day as much as poss, some people reckon that works - but you're doing really well!!

Maybe you could try putting her to bed a little earlier, maybe 7am instead of half past? Worked for me but may have been a fluke.

DS is the same, wakes early and naps again after 2-3 hours and he is 12 months! Late nights don't make a difference, I just have to go with it.

I have a 3.5 yr old and a 14month old, and I've been up at 5.30am latest for the last 3.5 years! I think I've had a lie in till 7 once or twice, and once it was 8am

will try delaying morning nap as suggested see if that helps

Had exactly the same problem with now-8-month-old ds and just made the decision not to feed him until 6am. We were lucky though because he wasn't starving at 5am, I think it was just habit that he wanted to be fed. If he woke and was just chatting to himself I left him, if he was moaning a bit I put his mobile on to distract him and went in every 5mins or so, if it was full on screaming I gave him a cuddle but no feeding. This week he has only woken at 5:30 once, the rest has all been after 6am! (have probably jinxed it now and he will be up all night next week . . . ). He then has a nap about 9am which I try to keep constant regardless of what time he has woken up. Hope that helps.

We did a similar thing. Delayed her feed until after six and if she woke up before we found putting her on her side wedged with a towel helped . Think she might have been restless and a bit uncomfortable lying on her back as she doesn't roll - and she used to only sleep on her side?

She soon started sleeping until 6 then half six etc and now usually sleeps right through from bedtime until 7/7.30 (no more towel wedging) which is blissful! She's happier for it too as she gets a good 12 hours that way. I know we're lucky but she did used to wake 5/6 times between 11-6 so it just goes to show, things can improve!

might just be the way she is but have you tried
a- a blackout blind
b- a dream feed (around 10 or 11pm) so that she's not hungry at 5am.

Both of those worked for me.
I think it's common for most babies to want to go back to bed 1-2 hours after they wake up in the morning no matter what time that is!
