Sorry no as can't seem to solve my own in a 7 month old but will bump for you.

littlerach · 14/04/2007 09:20

No advice at all.
dd2, 2.7, is still a poor sleeper and I am slowly becoming resigned to this.
I spoke to my HV this week and she has suggested rescue Remedy, for her not me! I am rather dubious however.

I think that some are just not good sleepres. Which doesn't ehlp you at all, i realsie.

popsycal · 14/04/2007 09:34

I know. I have pretty much resigned myself to it over the years.

He is getting worse again though after getting a little better after going in a bed.

He woke 6 times before I even went to bed then I found him in bed next to me at around 2:30. I am just so tired of it all rather than tired iyswim (although I am tired but don't seem to notice these days).

I have not had more than about 3 consecutive hours of sleep for 2 years.

Presumaby Popsycal you've tried all sorts already ie earlier bedtime, later bedtime, more milk, food, routine, threats ()

Does he wake early or persistently wake during the night?

popsycal · 14/04/2007 19:35

yes tried everything.....
and yes - to both

Some daft q's def supposed to be helpful from a fellow sufferer. (dd1 aged 3)

  1. does he eat well during the day and can you tank him up before bed with milk/cereal pref oat based.
  2. a bit contradcitory is he deff ok with wheat/oats etc does he poo reg?
  3. How goes the BF how often and when?

I ask because dd1 (sleeper crappius) has recently got loads better. She had slipped back into night feeds due to dd2 and me being anything for a quiet life.

This meant she was barely eating at all all day and so it went round again.

We have cut out all night feeds morning only. Feed her up as much as physically possible specially before bed. The drink before bed is a wee bit controversial but dd1 is out of nappies at night time and can have a huge drink and not need a wee till morning. Your wee boy might be getting woken up by wees just a thought.

We have gone from irregular poos to every day due to massive efforts to feed her up. The ceral before bed means she now wakes up once about 5 snuggles in and goes back to sleep until a sensible time.

Huge sympathies it is utterly crap.

NO NOT REALLY. He picks at his breakfast and lunch but usually has a good dinner on an evening.

  2. a bit contradcitory is he deff ok with wheat/oats etc does he poo reg? His poos are fine - regular and normal

  3. How goes the BF how often and when? BF first thing on a morning and last thing at night. The very occasional short one after having a nap if he has one - but that is unusual now (the BF not the nap...although he only has a nap every few days now)

It is getting worse and worse at the minute.

Oh gosh - the weeing!

I said this to DH the other day. Every time he wakes, he does a massive we in his nappy immediately. He is no where near potty training though...

Supper before bed - a bit hit and miss again. He is not a big cereal fan - and would not eat porridge for a while. Might try him again though.

Right.
Will try to feed him up tday

popsycal · 15/04/2007 20:29

Interesting about the wees.

Does he drink anything with blackcurrant in? I have heard it is a bladder irritant.

popsycal · 17/04/2007 13:14

Oh man!
It is getting worse and worse and worse!
Not sure what to do next

So sorry popsycal. Ds2 (1.5) is a nightmare sleeper - I totally sympathise. I know that we should do some serious "sleep training" but it makes me feel sick at the thought of it. However, I got some lovely helpful wonderful advice from zippi, harpsi and bugsy. Ds2 has been pretty poorly lately but when we decide to give it a go I'll be digesting every word they said!

lovely helpful people

PeckaRolloverAgain · 17/04/2007 13:31

my only suggestion at this stage woudl eb to put him to bed at bed time. shut the door and regardless of what happens in night dont go back to him til reasonable waking time

its worth him getting up at the moment cos he gets to snuggle in with you"!

popsycal · 17/04/2007 17:32

thanks for the link piglit

pecka - i know what you are saying but he wiould be totally distraught if i didnt go in
he either cries uncontrollably when he wakes or gets out of his bed, comes in my room, then cries uncontrolably when i put him back

I tried tp just resign myself to it but EVERYone seems to have babies that sleep better
my 3 month old niece
my friend's 6 week old baby
my other friend's 6 month old

oh arse
i am letting it get to me again

OP posts:
PeckaRolloverAgain · 17/04/2007 18:56

popsy, he may cry uncontrollably

but is it because he knows if he cries uncontrollably you will get him out

i know its hard, its SO hard but you need to sleep!

do we have any sleep clinics round here?

have you tried tanya byrons rapid return?

popsycal · 17/04/2007 19:47

no idea what that is

the last time we tried controlled crying proper he vomitted

i really don't want to do it tbh

OP posts:
popsycal · 20/04/2007 20:51

well
had ds2 to a and e for an entirely differetnt thing today and mentioned in passing to a and e nurse that his sleep had always been bad but had got worse.
she asked if he was potty trained or were we training himand suggested that it is common at this age the knowing they need to wee wakes them up....as I thought and the lovely Mrsapron

now this does not help me at all lol and may well get worse if I try to potty train.....but it is a possibility!

anyway - 2 slightly better night (big wake up before i went to bed then one wake up around 3 - quick to go back to sleep then up at 5:45
a brilliant night chez popsy
