ok so 2 kids in the room, 21 months and 3.5

younger one won't go in a cot but could be on mattress on the floor for a bit

older one wants a cabin bed (thus the younger one will too, at least to play in)

but how can i read stories to him if he is in a cabin bed? hmm?

I don't especailly want to fork out TWICE for beds.

They will have to have the same bed

I want both beds in there from the start to establish its both of their room

oh I am so confused. What do I get? cabin bed? regular bed? one on the floor til they decide?

(we have NO beds atm but 2 mattresses and some slats)

god this is HARD

can you get a bunk bed - but one of those that splits into two singles.......so while your oldest is too little for the top bunk you keep it single - then once they're old enough just put them together and have more space??

CharlieAndLolasMummy · 13/04/2007 09:56

will they not argue though?

my parents ended up buying TWO bunk beds

my DS's are 6 and 3 - and have been in the bunkbed since beginning of this year - no arguing - DS2 just accepts that he is on the bottom (well it's his 'den' isn't it ) and DS1 loves being the 'big boy' on the top.

ds too small for cabin bed really specially if he might be wandering during the night.

ikea ones

low plain pine single

and

can turn from low to high

CharlieAndLolasMummy · 13/04/2007 17:05

oh i am giving up and busrting into tears here, i have decided

i did an 80 mile round trip to get the ikea critter beds in pine cos they have discontinued them at cardiff

once i had paid i then discovered they wouldn't deliver to me and they were too big for my car

and plus i had to cope with being patronised by a mother who was policing the kids slide and telling kids off for going up the slide the wrong way and so not giving her 13 mo a chance to fully enjoy the slide (I'm sorry, I don't fecking care, they are KIDS and ikea is hell, go persue the bargain bedlinen ffs). And saying to me, "oh I do admire you, being such a relaxed parent." in that oh so snidey, "stop looking at the cutesey flower lights and SUPERVISE YOUR CHILDREN way.

[grr]

oh god that is crap.

both the hassle factor and then the meaner woman.

Sympathies on the IKEA hell - I always call and check they have want I want in advance - if they have lots and then they say they have none when I get there I moan until they bring them from whereever they are.
On the bunk beds - my oldest two went in when they were 2 & 4 - to start with it was oldest on top, but now they swap beds when the sheets are changed and seems to work quite well. We do stories out of bed (must make the bean bags and it will be so much better) and then they get the last story lying in their beds - we usually do a chapter one with no pictures, think we read Winnie the Pooh when they were small.

oooh thats an idea i could make beanbags

that would help me feel better
