Will blackout blinds keep them in bed longer?

or is their body clock just set to wake up at 6.30?

Will they make any difference?

It did when we put them up in dd's room last summer, worth a shot. She went from 6am wakening to nearer 7am (was 18 months old then) and hasn't started waking earlier so far this year despite lighter mornings (fingers firmly crossed).

a lot of people say they do keep them in bed longer, but they have to be fitted really well and preferably have blackout curtains too. I just bought some blackout material, cut it to size and velcroed it to the window frame!

having said all that...the only thing my ds was good at was sleeping thru 7- 7 at the earliest, has now started waking at 5-6 ready to start the day, and it's still dark in the room, so there are many other factors that could be causing them to wake earlier

I actually pinned a blanket to the curtains last night in desperation at DDs 5am wake ups (we live in the country, it gets really bright and really noisy then) and today she slept till 7am!!!!

I can't believe how excited I am about being allowed to sleep an extra hour but I am....

I hear that once they get to 18 months you can use the bunny clocks to great effect.

I wish...

DD2 has blackout linings, blackout blind, AND a bunny clock (she's 2.1) and still wakes up anytime from 6.00am onwards...

They are 2.3 & 9months

they both sleep with us so its not like i can
leavethem to play, as soon as they wake up they wake me up

when DS 2 was born they both slept in till 10 the first 3 months!!

i miss that!! lol

yes, but would agree that blackout curtains are more effective - blinds still let loads of light in around the edges.
