Congested nose but not ill. Waking 12+ times per night

Hi everyone, my DD is almost 16 weeks. She's not ill but for the past month or so has been suffering terribly with congestion in her nose. It makes her snort and snore and distresses her so she wakes. It seems to be worse from 3am. I have tried saline drops, calpol plugin, children's olbus oil but nothing is helping. The gp just said it's because babies nasal passages are small but surely this can't be normal? We are both exhausted. She falls back to sleep on me with a cuddle then I put her back but after 10/15 mins she wakes. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I have, it came on after a cold and didn't go away. I find that using a saline spray (not drops) before bed helps, and I have raised the cot head. It is indeed exhausting / frustrating for poor baby and mama. It lasted several weeks and still happens some nights.

Thank you for replying Greyfig. She did have a bit of a viral infection a few weeks ago so that would fit with what you've also experienced. It's been going on a little while now so really hope it eases soon.

Try putting the legs of one end of the cot on tins of tuna/beans (depending on the amount you want it raised)

Could possibly be a symptom of a food allergy?

DS had this for a while after a cold, really snotty and uncomfortable. Spent many nights at 3am in the bathroom with the shower running hot. It seemed to soothe him.

Try tilting the cot. My LO had a bad cold recently and the coughing was making her sick at night. We bought a humidifier and put it in the room at night, it really helped. May be worth a try.

It could be dairy allergy or reflux? Does she have any other symptoms?
