Sleepyhead sheets/blankets etc

Hello
I'm 36 weeks pregnant and freaking out a bit about how under prepared I am. With only just moving in to our new house it's been a bit of stress/rush. We have a sleepyhead delux and planning to use it in our cot we have ordered next to our bed. What do you do about sheets for the sleepyhead? Do you need to buy the covers? Also then do you just use blankets over the baby?
I've got a gro snug (cosy) coming, so will I need blankets as well as that sleeping bag?
I have so many questions, sorry! Just can't seem to find many answers on google.

Sleepyhead came with a cover and I never bought another because they're about £50 - just wash and dry in the day when needed. We put a fleecy blanket over it anyway (so baby doesn't feel the cold as much when he gets put down) which helps to protect it and keep it clean.

Usually I use a cellular blanker over the top and tucked in underneath however we're just about to start using sleeping bags again now its getting cooler.
We did have a gro snug at first but DS hated it - I've heard they're a bit like marmite... babies either love them or hate them.

I wouldn't say you need a blanket as well as sleeping bag - they should come with a temperature grid that shows you what baby should wear under it at different temperatures? Smile

Sleepyhead comes with one cover - it's what keeps it in shape. The sleepyhead fabric is sort of breathable so you can't put anything over it that's not breathable as then it's not safe. What I used to do is get a large Muslin and fold it so it slotted inside the base and i'd just wash that every couple of days and the sleepyhead whole cover every couple of weeks. We used baby sleeping bags.

I just put a large Muslin over my Sleepyhead and then swaddled baby inside it (again with a large muslin) instead of using a blanket. I swear by the big muslins from
Aden & Anais.

I put a clevamama cotbed mattress protector over ours and then a cotbed sheet on top. With twins I couldn’t be arsed changing everything and waiting for the cover to dry (and doing battle trying to get the bastard thing back on). We had spare covers for them but when we had the grandes we did two layers of sheets and protectors on each.

The delux is smaller than most cot mattresses but you can some that will fit. If you get a grand a normal waterproof elasticated cot mattress over and then a normal cot mattress over that works well.

You shouldn't use other coverings or blankets on the Sleepyhead as a PP has said. It's only breathable with the official covers so not safe or tested with additional ones.
