Hi, my DS is 15 months. Just wanted to some advice on how to fit 2 naps in our day.
Wakes- 5-6am
Breakfast straightaway
8.30am- 9am school drop off for my first son
9am snack
9.15-11am toddler groups 3x week
11-12.30- nap
1-1.30pm lunch
3pm school pick up.

So basically I don't know where to fit in 2nd nap. Should I try from 3.30pm

Usually over the age of 12 months toddlers start refusing a second nap and just have one long one over lunch, maybe your DS is ready to drop the second nap?

Hi , thanks for the reply. I think I'll come back early from toddler groups this week and put him down at 10.30am and see if he wants a nap at 2pm. Or bedtime will be slightly earlier to avoid being over tired.

We were well into one nap days by a year old and it makes life so much easier. All his nursery room (over ones) have a long nap after lunch, it took a couple of weeks to make the transition but it's been great (now 19 months). We did wake 6.30ish, breakfast 8am, lunch 11.30am, straight down for nap until 2ish, dinner at 4, snack 5.30pm, bath at 6pm, bed at 6.30pm.

Personally I found that once they are eating 3 meals a day and having long naps I couldn't fit two naps in as well as have any sort of life!

I have the same problem but my DD is only 12 months. She used to fall asleep on both school runs, but since the summer holidays - no chance, so I've given up!
What I do now is one good nap per day, you get more done as a bonus.
So assuming wake at 6am and bed 6/630pm ish I allow one 2hr nap, so put her down at 11am-1pm - so she's awake for two equal (ish stints). I adjust this if she's awake later, and if she's particularly tired after a bad night with teething I enforce two naps 10am and 2pm (so before school run) but she'll only do this if I give her milk beforehand. I'd be worried that a nap after 3pm = not tired at bedtime.

Thankyou, I'll try that today. I know it shouldn't but him crying at bedtime and doing controlled crying is causing me anxiety and stress. But your plan sounds good:)

I would do a 9am pushchair nap and a 1pm after lunch nap. Or knock baby groups on the head until the morning nap is dropped.

Once on 1-nap days I would do an 11.30am lunch and a 12pm-3pm nap

Thankyou. I've tried 12-1pm nap. He woke up quickly:(
So fingers crossed he'll be better at bedtime if I start at 6.30pm. So difficult with him not wanting to sleep in his cot. I'm on 3rd day with controlled crying.
