What to use for downstairs naps?

My little boy is 6 weeks old but on the 98th percentile for length. He sleeps well in his carrycot downstairs in the day and his cotbed upstairs at night, he had a moses basket but for some reason hated it. He will soon be too long for the carrycot! It is part of his travel system. I don't really want to be stuck upstairs in the bedroom when he sleeps in the day. Is there anything else I'm not aware of he could sleep in downstairs? We have two dogs so needs to be something that can be put higher up.

Travel cot?

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 10/09/2017 20:52

Travel cot with a bassinet? Nice and high and will be useful for ages, we had one downstairs for months. DD slept in it really well as a small baby, and then just used it as a safe place for her when I was cooking etc. I'll find a link.

We used a travel cot but you could even just get a second cot.

Inflatable ring, Moses basket, blanket on the floor.

Put him on the floor with a playpen fence around him (you might need one later on anyway when he's sitting/rolling/crawling)?

Bouncy chair for my 91st centile chunk. Until 5-6 months old or so.

Great for being able to foot bounce baby to sleep while sitting on sofa watching tv Grin

My DS just naps in the pram, I bring it into the kitchen if it's not nice enough out in the garden. He's huge too, I wedged him into the carrycot until the last possible moment Grin

We got a Moba basket. They don't rustle like your standard Moses baskets.

We went for a travel cot with bassinet for DD's downstairs naps. It was fab.

Thanks all! In my head a travel cot was the same size as his carrycot. Now I actually think about it, of course it isn't! Can I still blame baby brain?

Why can't he sleep upstairs without you being on the same floor?

arbrighton · 12/09/2017 13:44

@LittleMissMankyPants

Well apart from SIDS guidelines saying sleep in same room as you til 6 months you mean?
