What are you doing to help him get to sleep?

How do you normally get him to sleep at bedtime/naptime?

What's daytime sleep routine like?

EmmaJack86 · 07/09/2017 08:36

At nap time I put him down blanket on and walk out and he goes to sleep fine he has two naps in the day.

Bedtime he won't self settle at all is rocked to sleep I know I've made a rod for my back but too late for that now but we try rocking him try giving him milk try leaving him when he is awake this long and nothing works he eventually goes back to sleep

Does/will be fall asleep while you are feeding him?

If he's going to bed 7-8pm ish then waking at 10pm, that's nap length. What times are your two naps and how long are they usually?

EmmaJack86 · 07/09/2017 10:19

He falls asleep with his milk to initially get him to sleep. It's not normally 10pm that's just what it was last night it's normally 12:30-2:30 or 1:30-3:30

First nap is generally two hours after he wakes up and last between and hour and two hours and second nap is generally around 1pm-2pm and last anywhere from 1hour-2 hours

There's a sleep regression between 8-10 months as developmentally there's tons going on (learning to walk, language development) as well as teething and them deciding the middle of the night is a good time to start practicing the skills they already have.
I've just been through this with my 9mo - we seem to be coming out of it now thankfully! It can last as little as 2 weeks or 6-8 weeks. Ours lasted around 6 weeks (there was teething and a variety of colds, chest infections and stomach bugs in that time too).
One change I did make which seems to have helped is to switch the heating on for a short time at around 4am so she stays warm til she wakes at 7 - that's cured the 5am wake ups (but of course it could have been a coincidence!)
Hang in there, I hope it resolves quickly for you!

I've read about the regression it's just so difficult when your so tired ha ha! Thanks reassuring to know other mums are going through or have gone through it and come out the other side! He's been fine with his teeth but think he's starting to get his back ones which I know are worse you constantly just worry that your doing something wrong ha ha! X

That's a good daytime sleep routine. Is weaning going well? Don't forget the need to remain hydrated during the day, drinking as well as eating enough. Go for high calorie foods - carbs and protein in particular. Also consider hiving supper just before bed.

Aside from that, your going to sleep methods of rocking or feeding to sleep are probably your main problem in this. Have a read of the opening post here:

Is that something you could do to get baby to go to sleep in the cot?

EmmaJack86 · 07/09/2017 11:45

Yes he's brilliant during the day can just put him in n walk away but on a night he just cries we have tried leaving him to cry and going in at times intervals but so hard

He prefers food to milk struggle to get milk into him apart from at bedtime he does drink water during the day too
