14 month old still wakes up for a drink 2-3 times a night

She goes to bed between 7.30-8pm and I lie next to her in my bed until she goes to sleep (it's just me and her) then she will normally wake two or three times per night and won't settle again until I give her a bottle. This was milk until recently but I have now changed it to water but it makes no difference. She doesn't drink much at a time, a couple of oz. so I don't even think that it's really that she's thirsty, more that it's a habit. She wakes up in the morning between 6-7am. She naps once or twice a day for a total of about two hours. She tends to go to sleep fairly quickly at bedtime.

I'm so tired, especially as being single it's always my turn to get up! I've gone back to work two days a week as well, in a very demanding job. I was hoping that by now I'd be able to have an undisturbed night's sleep but I'm now losing hope... is there anything else I can do or is this just the way things are?

If it is a habit I'm sorry but I'm totally useless but drinking lots at night could be a symptom of type 1 diabetes. I don't want to panic you but have a read of the NHS page and see if there's any other symptoms that sound familiar.

That sounds so tiring :(
I agree it's probably more of a habit rather than actual thirst. What you do about it depends on how you feel - if it's something you can live with then carry on. Personally I'd be tempted to wait for a night when it's not too hot and muggy, then shhhh her back to sleep instead of the water each time. Or maybe just let her have it once when you go to bed, then no more till morning. It would probably only take a couple of nights to break the habit

It is really hot at the moment, my toddler is waking more frequently for a drink. Not a glug glug but just enough to wet the mouth really, which is what I want when I wake in the night. Which I do as it's been warm.

Wait until it's cooler and see how things are then.

My DD wakes up in the night when me and DP are in the room, I think it's the noise. Maybe Try for one night sleeping on the sofa and see if that helps? DP and I now have a sofa bed in the living room so our DD sleeps through Smile

I would put several bottles of water in the cot so she can get a drink herself.

The drink isn't the issue though. She just wants an excuse for you to come.
