Would a cot projector work for an older baby?

Hi all, I'm looking for advice and possibly recommendations on baby light projectors.

My son is nearly 8 months old and has always been difficult to get to sleep. We have a whole routine which really helps but he sometimes is a bit restless (he's a very excitable baby!). After his bath I feed him to sleep but sometimes he doesn't want to feed but doesn't know how to sleep with out it.

I was wondering if cot light projectors could be the answer and whether he is to old for this considering we haven't used one before?

Also I'm unsure of which one to get, there are quite a few on the market but I would need one that has the option to use the light without music as we have an established lullaby.

Thanks

Im not an expert but other sleep experts I've read up on have said anything but red light can actually inhibit sleep so they don't tend to recommend things like that - BUT someone else with experience using them may come along and help :) have you tried white noise whilst trying to settle?

My philosophy at sleep time is dark, subdued, calm and with no distracting sounds. Not entertaining.

When you say your son is difficult to get to sleep, what do you mean? I can only see a light show thing being any if use to a baby happy to lie in cot, awake and alone, and can already go to sleep without any help when ready. But if you have such a child then the light show wouldn't add anything anyway.

Aside from that, I think it just becomes an added distraction away from sleep.

I know @Nottalotta used a musical mobile for her child from a similar age, so she may be able to give a different opinion if she reads this.

We use a cot mobile/projector (it was an expensive f*cker but can be used as a night light as well once baby doesn't need a mobile) and it seems to work- during the day I set it so it's just the mobile part no light

Oh and we only started using it at 7m
