Sleep regression?

Dd is 20 weeks and the past few days seems to be dozing/cat napping rather than having a proper nap like she had had been doing.

This time last week she was having a 3 or 4 hour nap around lunchtime, now she is dozing with my boob in her mouth, for maybe half an hour before waking up then she wants to go back to sleep again half an hour or so later. If I take my breast away she will stir and chase after it, fully waking if she doesn't get it back.

She's a bit grumpy when she is awake so I know she's tired/overtired but is sleeping like normal at night only waking once or twice to feed for maybe half an hour to an hour each time.

Could it finally be a sleep regression?

Sounds like you've hit the dreaded regression. Good luck. BrewCake

You think so sphinxster? She's always been such a good little sleeper (unlike dd1 who still can't bloody sleep through at 4!) I was dreading the regression and being up all night. It didn't occur to me it could affect her daytime sleep which is what's thrown me a bit!

I'm too sleep deprived to remember all the details Grin but have google. It's all about the sleep crutches (?something like that)... We gave DD a dummy so if she comes out of a sleep cycle and it's not in her mouth she can't self settle. Luckily she's now learning to find it for herself and has the hand-eye coordination to put it back in. Also, they lose the ability to zone out from environmental noise and stimulus so day time napping becomes broken.

Thank you will keep googling. She won't take a dummy I've tried and tried! She occasionally finds her thumb though which I would prefer she didn't!

May have to try getting her to nap in her cot from now on rather than downstairs with me on the sofa.

Sucking is naturally soothing for baby, it's probably why shes chasing the breast.

Could you try naps in something that moves? See if you can extend them that way. My favourite was the bouncy chair for rhythmic movement. You could just park the pram in the back of the living room and rock it back and forth.

Try a white noise app for day time naps as it helps block out environmental noise. It didn't work for my son but works really well with my daughter, which is lucky because she often needs to nap in the middle of mental toddler groups.
