Two naps to one, not sure what's going on!

DD is 14 months. Until a fortnight ago was sleeping 10am-1130am, 3-4pm and 715pm-630am. Out of the blue she just didn't want the afternoon nap, wasn't upset just wouldn't settle.

So I figured it was time to move to one nap and have gradually been moving the 1030 nap down. Seemed to be working well with about 2-2.5 hours nap but now we've got it starting at 1130 and she's only sleeping for 1.5 hours. Sleeping overnight 630pm-7am though.

Have I got something wrong somewhere with moving to the one nap too soon or can I be a bit odd to begin with?

Thanks

What time is she having lunch?

Giving a snack about 11ish, Babybel, handful of nuts/veg, crackerbread with peanut butter etc then lunch when waking. Feels a bit wrong but not sure what else to do!

All children are different and they'll drop their naps when they are ready. DS was still having one nap a day at 2 1/2. Whereas my younger DD stopped napping before she was 1! Both have slept through the night since an early age.

Is give a bigger lunch and the straight to bed. She might be hungry.

The usual way to move to 1 nap is to drop the second nap completely, then move the first nap later.

So I would make 11am your dinner time and give a full dinner, then nap straight afterwards.

Bear in mind that for the transition period there might be days where 2-naps are needed. Maybe he does 3 days of 1 nap days but then is knackered on the 3rd day so you do a 2-nap day on the 4th day, maybe the 5th day too. Then back to 1-nap days and a day or two of 2-nap days here and there to catch up. Over time less 2-nap days are needed and more 1-nap days.

OP, my DS is the same age and consistently sleeps only 10-11 hours overnight and has one 1.5 hour nap during the day - this is certainly on the lower end of total sleep hours a day and I sometimes fret that it isn't enough - but maybe your DD is ok with just that amount of sleep?

Thanks for all advice. Seems she was coming down with a nasty virus plus two molars coming through at once which was throwing that lunchtime nap out. Seem to be back on track now!
