4 month old belly sleeping

Been awake with my 4 month old for 3.5 hours (very unusual) not wanting to be put down. Laid her on her belly and she's asleep within seconds...I'm now laid here fighting my eyes and listening to her breathing as I darent leave her on her belly all night! Am I being stupid, should I go to sleep?!
She's strong enough to lift her head and move it about, cot with tight sheet on and nothing else in the cot - she's in a sleeping bag. SIDS advise scares the shit out of me!!

My dd would only sleep like this. For my sanity, I let her.

I'm scared though! She's had naps on her belly but on the sofa and watched her like a hawk

Mitigate it by reducing the other risk factors. It was 10 years ago for me but we were a non-smoking household and the room was never overly hot. I can't remember what else is considered risky.

She was also very quick to express her unhappiness, so any whinging I was up to her.
She was an absolute beast on her back, made for a very miserable few months before I tried her on her front.

What happens if now she's in a deep sleep you turn her over to sleep on her front? Mine will often do that when sleeping on me in the day but I can then very gently lift her to sleep on her back in the cot.

I was just browsing Facebook and yet another SIDS article came up, panicked me and I've just turned her over without waking her! Yayyy...im off to sleep. Thanks ladies Smile

I've followed the correct advise all along but know she sleeps better on her belly but it's just scary. I need to encourage her rolling over I think!
Night ladies!

It's fine. Obvs, sleeping on back is marginally better, but babies will have preferences, and that's just life. The risk is infintestimally small. Like other posters said, just make sure that all the other SIDS guidelines are followed. There's really nothing you can do about her sleep position preferences, so there's no point in worrying!

My ds has slept on his tummy since 2 months old. He is 8 months now and always sleeps on his tummy. I don't think he knows how to sleep on his back!

Sleep position is the single biggest factor in SIDS prevention and since the Back To Sleep campaign, SIDS has dropped by 70% making it the most successful public health initiative ever. Peak age for SIDS is 12 weeks.
