Would this be unsafe?

My DS 7months has a viral throat infection and also has a blocked nose. This is causing him to have trouble settling down to sleep as well as feeding. So I've put a pillow underneath him and he settled immediately. Obviously I can't leave it there all night so my question is would it be a problem if I put the pillow under the sheets so that it provides him with some comfort and props him up to breathe easily? He tends to roll a lot in his sleep and often moves on to his front.

No, I wouldn't. Can you prop up one end of the cot, so he's not lying perfectly flat?

I wouldn't. Can you slightly raise the head end of the cot?

Better off putting a pillow under the matttess and propping him up that way I think. You want nothing that could cover his face or make it hard to breathe if he rolled over.

Thanks for your replies and advice. I think I will try prop up the mattress as suggested.

My hv advised pillows or rolled up towels under the mattress to make a slope. It's easier and more stable than propping up the whole cot. Hope he's better soon.

Seems to be working. Thank you

I bought a foam wedge that goes under the mattress which we were advised to use when our DC had reflux. Maybe worth looking into.
