Biggest bedside crib?

Hi, our new bedroom is small and definitely won't fit a proper cot in.

So, I'm looking for a bedside crib/co-sleeper that truly lasts until 6 months at least. I don't want to put him (due December) in his cot in his own room before then.

Snuzpod looks small. DD was in a similar sized crib (not bedside) and lasted only 4m. But I had a bigger bedroom then so cot fit no problems.

His room is tiny so wouldn't be able to sleep with him in there.

TIA!

Hi. I had the chicco next to me, my dd was in there until 11 months

FATEdestiny · 22/07/2017 11:47

Would a space saver cot fit in? I understand IKEA do one.

You can remove one side off most cots to make them into cosleepers.

Good idea thanks Fate, but no. We've been offered an Ikea one and it's too tight in the room.

Chicco looks to be a good option!

I looked at the snuzpod and next to me, the next to me is bigger, wider. The snuzpod is really narrow.

We have a next2me and really pleased with the size. Dr is only 3 months but there's still lots of growing room.

NaturWilde · 23/07/2017 08:20

Ok that seems like a good option. Thank you!

Snuzpod is smaller than next2me...the next smallest things would be a Moses basket on a stand/rocker. Personally I think the snuzpod is a good buy, even second hand.

I think it depends how big your baby is and how quick he/she grows as to how long it will last in your room. One of my friends had a 9.5lb baby and he only lasted in a Moses basket for 6 weeks! The snuzpod and next2me are designed for up to 6 months, but once they start rolling/moving you may find baby wants more space.

Baby bay maxi - my (admittedly tiny) twins fitted in together until they were over 5 months old. And if you buy it from German amazon it's much cheaper than buying it here!

silkpyjamasallday · 23/07/2017 08:52

The snuzpod is pretty small, but 50th centile dd can still fit in it at 10 months, we stopped using it at four months though as she started sitting up and pulling to stand not long after, so take that into account as once you get to that point it is no longer safe. Is there no way you could fit a normal sized cot up against the bed with the side off? I think it was a monumental waste of money, but it is going to its new home with our friend who is also due in December. Currently it is used to store blankets and clothes for dd

NaturWilde · 23/07/2017 13:49

I'm not getting the Snuzpod after hearing how small it is.

Regular cot definitely won't fit.

Am heading to Germany for a month in August - may see if I can get anything cheaper there. Thanks for the tip @JellyTeapot

Kinder kai compact cot. Lasted until my son was 1 but was small enough to fit in my room

Pastaagain78 · 23/07/2017 14:44

Arms reach co sleeper is massive

FraterculaArctica · 23/07/2017 14:52

Both my DC fitted (not together!) in the babybay till 8-9 months.

FraterculaArctica · 23/07/2017 14:52

That should say babybay maxi.

MonkeyBrainsInPickle · 23/07/2017 14:58

My DD was 75th centile and stayed in the Snuzpod for seven months.

Littlelondoner · 23/07/2017 15:01

It is not so much the size it is how strong the baby is. Which you can not predict.

These type of cribs once the baby can sit up are dangerous as the baby isnt low enough. Not hugh enough sides.

Snuzpod generally get 6 months out of but heard of people getting month or so either side.

Diamondsandpears · 23/07/2017 15:04

Snuzpod until 8 months with room for longer. They are for sleeping in. They don't need a big space. Many babies prefer a snug sleeping area and people often need to buy a puddle pod or similar if the crib is too big.
