10 month old help

Hi all

Any advice for 10 month old sleep? Basically DS is 10.5 months and his sleep is now awful meaning DH & I are constantly exhausted as we now wake in anticipation of him and struggle to get back to sleep.

He goes to bed between 8.30 and 9 and will go down within a few minutes. However he's waking every night as a minimum at 4am for around 45 mins but some nights midnight and/or 2am too. He gets up between 6.30 and 7am when we get up to get ready for work. Prior to sleep going downhill he went from 2 daytime naps to one longer nap. He sometimes needs a nap of around 45 mins about 6pm when he gets collected from nursery.

DH & I are both FT and he's our only DC. He used to be an amazing sleeper so it may be developmental as his sleep went downhill when he was 7 months and I went back to work. But for the last 4-6 weeks it's been like this. Over the last few weeks I've stared to suffer from stress and anxiety and I feel not sleeping well anymore/being a light sleeper is a trigger.

Just to add when he wakes up it's for attention, he's not hungry and doesn't always need a nappy change. Getting him back down is using his nightlight, dummy, sssshhing him and when it's really bad bringing him into our room and co-sleeping (resulting in bad sleep for us!).

Any advice or help appreciated and sorry this is so long 😩

Have you tried bringing his bedtime forward? That sounds quite late, maybe try getting him down for 7/7.30?

Also try posting in the sleep section - people there will be much better at giving advice than me!! Wink

Thanks Mrs Brightside! Unfortunately I don't get home from work until 7-7.30pm so his bedtime has always been a bit later so I get to see him when I get home
