Baby's blanket went up over her face in sleepyhead deluxe bed!

So I'm looking for some reassurance/ help. My baby sleeps in a sleepy head in a cot and we swaddle her then tuck a blanket around her and under the sleepy head. The other morning I woke to find the blanket had come right up over her face, my stupid partner thought I had put blanket like that to stop flys landing on her face (yes I'm aware how absolutely stupid that sounds). Does anyone else use a sleepy head? If so how you get your baby off to sleep in one?
Ps: if you are part of the criticising mums club you can (politely) piss off!

We use a sleepyhead. DD is now in a sleeping bag so no blankets-before she went into sleeping bag I used a blanket tucked in over it-very tight with a lot under the sleepyhead. Only had it up to tummy button height or so. Never had any issues.

Hamsolo · 11/07/2017 04:53

Hello, please don't take this as a criticism, but the sleepyhead isn't meant to be used for overnight sleep, so that might be why it happened - I looked into getting one and didn't for that reason. Is she old enough to be wriggling or turning over? You don't mention in your post. Maybe it's time to transition her to just the cot?

icklekid · 11/07/2017 04:56

I would recommend grobags. To be honest, especially in the summer, if your swaddling maybe just add a layer underneath instead of blanket so vest and sleepsuit. Have you got thermometer in her room?

Only1scoop · 11/07/2017 05:01

Gro bags

Ginger782 · 11/07/2017 05:04

Ditto to gro bags/sleeping bags. Ditch all blankets until she is older.

SilveryFlowers · 11/07/2017 05:15

Ditto to gro bags. Best invention ever.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/07/2017 05:24

Dd was always in Grobags. I got the newborn one. Then the 0-6 etc.

ProseccoPoppy · 11/07/2017 05:31

Another vote for grobags, they're awesome.

MaverickSnoopy · 11/07/2017 05:48

Yes agree about the grobags and if you need to swaddle they do swaddle pods too.

CleanFreak123 · 11/07/2017 07:39

Hi all sorry didn't mention DD is now 10 weeks!
Can you use gro bags as well as a swaddle?
I had no idea the sleepy head wasn't for night sleep!!
Thanks for your advice ladies x

You cant use a swaddle with a gro bag as they need their arms free.

Use the swaddle on its own. On a colder night add an extra layer under the swaddle or use a slightly thicker swaddle.

NapQueen · 11/07/2017 07:42

Of course a sleepyhead is suitable to overnight sleep!

AlbusPercival · 11/07/2017 07:42

Who says sleepyhead isn't for overnight? DS has been in his for 8
Months

Ookmybanana · 11/07/2017 07:49

Grobag also do a sort of swaddle thing here: www.gro-store.com/gro-swaddle/ladybird-spot-hip-healthy-swaddle.html

Timetogrowup2016 · 11/07/2017 08:20

Sleepy head is for overnight sleep.
Wish people would research properly before sprouting such bull shit

RyanStartedTheFire · 11/07/2017 08:28

Sleepyhead is for overnight sleep. Use a sleeping bag instead of blankets though. Tucked in or not they are a big hazard.

chantico · 11/07/2017 08:30

I'd be worried about overheating, if the Sleepyhead is snug, baby is swaddled, and there's a blanket. I'd definitely lose one of those.

Presumably she's escaping the swaddling if she's been able to move the blanket like that? So perhaps that's the thing to change.

I used grobags, btw.

Rosieposie94 · 11/07/2017 08:31

We used a sleepyhead for 7 months with a grobag (overnight)

GinIsIn · 11/07/2017 08:34

Sleepyhead is fine for overnight sleep. Are you in the U.K.? It's been very warm - a swaddle and a blanket and a sleepyhead sounds like waaaay too many layers! Do you have a room thermometer?

chemenger · 11/07/2017 08:37

It's not very warm "in the UK", it's warm in parts of the UK. It's 11 C here today. Its been cold at night for the past few nights.

anxietybuilding · 11/07/2017 08:39

Sleepyhead is for overnight sleep. It's one of the only ones that can be as the pillows are breathable. I always use cellular blankets in case they do come untucked but I tend to tuck the blanket under the baby rather than under the sleepyhead. Often I don't even use a blanket as he's in a babygrow and gets sweaty in the sleepyhead.

SonicBoomBoom · 11/07/2017 08:44

Sleepyhead is for overnight sleep.

But yet another post to add to the chorus of "get a sleeping bag"! Instead of blankets. Then into the Sleepyhead. Much better, and no risk of blankets over the face.

I just put DS in a long sleeve vest and sleeping bag, since it's warmer.

TipBoov · 11/07/2017 09:15

We either use sleeping bags or a large cotbed sized cellular blanket which we can tuck right under the cot mattress on all sides to stop it being pulled up.

CleanFreak123 · 11/07/2017 09:53

I should mention DD much prefers to be swaddled. Normally if it's warm she is just in her vest and swaddle but the past couple of nights have been a little nippy (I am in north uk) think from what I'm reading though gro bag is the way forward! X

Find a swaddle sleep sack OP. Ergo, Halo, there are lots of good brands. As long as they give the hips enough room to flex properly. See pic for what I mean.
