How exactly?

There is loads of info on what not to do but none on how to actually do it.

So, duvets and pillows are out. So do you just lie there in pyjamas and no duvet? Have no pillow and end up with a crick neck? What? Confused here.

For context, I have an eight and a half month old still waking for feeds every two hours. I'm hallucinating with exhaustion again.

Don't put a young baby on top of soft bedding - they could easily suffocate. I'm sorry bhar but your sleeping arrangements don't sound safe at all

Does the side of their cot come off? That's what we did when dd outgrew the snuzzpod. We took off one side of the cot pushed it against the wall and then pushed our bed up against. We put the cot on its lowest setting so I could reach into her when she needed to feed etc. I'll try find a pic online

Our cot was lower than our mattress height but it still worked ok

Always co-slept with mine. Loved it. Bed guard on my side of the mattress. I would always wake if they stired. Never put baby in between you and DP - he's a very heavy sleeper!
Also at some points kept a cot attached to side of the bed to push them away once they are back asleep. Imho It's lovely and very reassuring to smell your baby and hear them breathing all night Grin

Can anyone recommend a bed guard that will fit a double bed? Lots I have seen seem to be for single beds. The cheaper the better Confused

Our bedguard is a babystart one. It would fit more securely on a single bed (under mattress straps don't fit a double/king), but you can still use it on a bigger bed. I do suspect it might be a bit unstable on a divan with a thin mattress, but anything with a frame or a heavy mattress should be fine. I'm easily more worried about her climbing over it than dislodging it.

Why are people putting babies on top of duvets? I didn't think that was safe, thought they were supposed to sleep on a firm mattress with a well fitting sheet. And if they fall asleep in your bed without you, isn't it better to remove all the pillows, in case they wriggle against/under a pillow and suffocate? Admittedly DS isn't rolling yet but if he falls asleep on my (king size) bed and I'm not in bed, I take all the pillows and duvet away.

We use the pillows down the far edge and bottom if we're not there because she's more likely to wake up and crawl off the bed than roll in her sleep and suffocate in the time it takes us to dash upstairs.

The pillows just slow her down long enough for us to get there, we're always listening to and watching her on the monitor, and go up as soon and she moves.

I considered having six bedrails to cover both sides and the bottom, but it seemed silly when she climbs them anyway if she's awake so would just be further to fall if she was quicker than us.

She's just on the mattress on a fitted sheet though, not on the duvet.

What I really need is a super king cot we can all sleep in!
