Napping issues

My 5 month old baby girl has a problem with napping for more than half hour. I put her down for a nap as soon as I notice sleeping cues, a yawn, rubbing eyes, being quiet and still etc. I put her in her cot or on the bed with some white noise and she takes herself off to sleep on her own generally within 5-15 minutes but then wakes up after 30-40 minutes unable to settle herself back to sleep, she gets wound up then very cranky as she's still obviously tired. It can take 30 minutes or more to get her back to sleep if it all. It is the same for morning and afternoon naps. She drops off to sleep on her own at bedtime at 7-7.30(again with white noise) and gets up once in the night generally at about 2ish for a feed then up at 6-7. Last night she slept till 5am then went back to sleep without a feed, hopefully this the start of sleeping through! Baby is otherwise very happy and easy, it's disappointing so much time is taken away from us trying to nap which could be spent on quality time and it would be nice if she slept for longer naps so I can get a few things done around the house or have a rest. Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

Totally normal. Sounds like she is napping for one sleep cycle. She'll probably stretch her naps out as she gets older. (All my dcs did this).

Yeh totally normal my DS now 10months done this around the 4/5 month age. It's when they begin going from baby sleep into a more adult sleep if you get me so there sleeping cycles change! To be honest in time my son started to sleep for longer naps during the day raging from 1-2 hours etc!

That's a relief to hear it's normal for this age, hopefully it won't last long!
