Sleep help

Hi all, hoping someone can help. Up until recently my 7 month old has been sleeping great at night, waking maybe twice but all I had to do was put dummy in and he'd go back to sleep.
A week ago every time I've put him down in his crib he has cried, we've even tried putting him in his cot too. (He would of usually slept when put down.) I have tried settling him when he's in there, that doesn't work. I've settled him in my arms but when I put him back down it all starts again and he just cries and cries.
The only time I've managed to get him to sleep for a couple of hours is his buggy in the lounge!
Does anyone have any advice/suggestions please? Confused

It's not incommon for baby to go through periods of needing extra help to get to sleep. There could be any number of causes:

  • lack of daytime sleep
  • method of going to sleep not conducive to staying asleep (when going to sleep in your arms tgen being down, for example)
  • lack of calories leading to low level hunger (this is entirely possible in early weaning. Make sure you keep milk intake as it was pre-weaning)
  • pain or discomfort

So try to ensure you allow for extra daytime sleep while not sleeping as well. If cot naps, try in-cot settling. But naps in the buggy are fine - much better baby goes to sleep where he stays asleep rather than being moved once asleep.

Make sure you maintain milk feeds in the day. Use high calorie weaning foods, not just fruit and veg, include carbs and protein.

Thanks for your reply! I have tried putting him down awake but sleepy and he can't self soothe so ends up crying and crying until picked up. He was going down asleep and staying asleep until now. I'm worried it's not good for him sleeping in his buggy at night but it is the only place other than my arms that he will actually get some sleep Sad

I appreciate your response. I've tried rocking him to sleep, but he's drowsy and unable to calm himself, so he just keeps sobbing until someone comes to get him.
