I know I shouldnt be moaning about this, if its ok then ill be really happy..

DD is 5 weeks old and for the past week has started to sleep longer at night. I feed her about 8pm and put her down to bed she will then last until 1-2am before waking for a feed. This means that shes going 5 hrs without a feed. Is this normal for a 5 weeks old. I dont know at what age they start to go longer between feeds.
If this is ok then thats brilliant and I will start waking her up at 10.30 for a feed so hopefully she stay asleep until 3ish, which means I can also sleep for 5 uninterupted hours of sleep

Sounds fantastic to me! Are you breast or bottle feeding?

As long as she still feeds more frequently than this in the day I wouldn't think it is a problem to do this at night. Is she happier in between feeds at other times now ?

Kbaby I was just like you, worried about how long DS was sleeping but not wanting to make to big a deal about it just in case it was normal and other mum's might think you were bragging.
DS started to sleep for longer from about 6wks. He would have a feed at 7.30pm and not wake until 4pm, this gradually got longer and from approx 3mths he was sleeping for 11-13hrs. DS was totally breastfed for the first 3mths and then moved onto bottle.
He is still sleeping through at 6mths (touching lots of wood!!) and is teething like a trooper, fortunately he is only grumpy during the day so by night he is tired out.
Hope this reassures you, one thing I've learnt is that all babies are different, for example my DS can quite happily hold onto a poo for 4days and when it comes it doesn't bother him, (you should see the faces of the other mums when I tell them this!)

Just posted on your other thread Kbaby, but to me this sounds like she is cluster feeding to go longer through the night. Our DD, who sounds very similar in her feeding and behaviour slept through the night at 6 weeks......... go with it!!! Fantastic isn't it!! You can put up with all the demanding behaviour during the day if you get a night's sleep!!

Thanks all. The 10.30 feed didnt do the trick though. She was too sleepy. She woke at 2.30 for a feed which is the same time as she wouldve if shed had her last feed at 8.30.

And tonight at 10.30 shes still awake!!!
