Baby cold in middle of night - Advice on Fleece Sleep Suit

My 9 week old wakes at 4am, regardless of being hungry, and last night I think I sussed what it is....

He won't sleep in a gro bag so we use a cellular blanket tucked around him in the cot. Problem is that he is a real figiter and kicks his blankets down no matter how securely I tuck them in. Consequently he wakes up cold.

Has anyone else used a fleece sleepsuit to put on over his sleepsuit. Would he overheat or would he be OK?

I use a fleece sleepsuit instead of a normal one, that way baby doesn't run the risk of getting too hot. Or start using a Grobag?

Have you tried one of those cotton jersey (sort of t shirt material) swaddle things that do up with velcro? I find those excellent for little ones. You wrap them up tightly, stick the velcro together, and they sleep really well IME !

He hates being swaddled and won't go in a gro bag for similar reasons - he loves to kick his legs. He is a real figit bum!

I used a fleece sleepsuit over pjs when my kids were older, when they grew out of the grobag.

I suppose a fleece suit is the same as 1 fleece blanket?

I use a fleece sleepsuit over a vest and an ordinary sleepsuit inside a grobag for DS2.

Our house is V cold though.

I know you said ds doesnt like being swaddled but is it the arms or legs? If it is just the legs, what about one of these

Know it is quite warm though. I have the normal shaped one and R doesnt get too hot with a vest and cotton sleepsuit on underneath but our bedroom is quie cold as I cant sleep in a hot bedroom.

I dont think that there would be any probs with a normal fleece sleepsuit though as long as you have a pretty cool room.

i must be out of touch, i thought gro bag was a joke

What about these .Never seen one so dont know if it is any good but might be worth a try? You could put them near his arms so he could still kick the blanket up in the air but not kick it down?

I never swaddled mine because she seemed not to like it but in hind sight I think it would have been better to persevere because their arms and legs flayling about wakes then up I think it's called the moro reflex. Anyway, I always felt it seemed cruel to restrict her movement but when you think about it, it wasn't long ago that they could barely move in your tummy and this new sense of space is peculiar. I think it would help. Failing that a grobag with his arms tucked inside?

Ohh, Lands' End does wonderful sleepsuits. I've always used them. Try the Infant Sleep Sack here have a look at InfantSleepSack

Thanks for all of the advice. Have bought a fleece sleepsuit to try tonight and have borrowed a swaddle blanket to try swaddling his lower half (it's his hands he likes to be free).
