Night waking - blooming dummy!!!!!!

We always thought we wouldn't have a dummy for DS (10mths) - well we have and since starting teething he's pretty much addicted to the thing at night. Last week he was quite poorly with D+V and now the whole dummy addiction is getting worse since he's been ill (he's over the bug but I think he's still a bit under parr) - we lost counts of how many times we were up last night groping for the thing and him crying. We know the answer is to get rid of it and we will but we're not up to it at the mo so any suggestions on how to stop him losing the damm thing - I was going to tie a small bit of muslin to it and put up a cot bumper along the outside of his cot - but has anyone else got any good ideas - pleeeeeease!!!!! Thanks for any ideas.

could put a few in there so he's got more chance of finding one?

Is the problem that it falls out of the cot or that he finds it difficult to pick it up and put it in his mouth?

i scattered about 10 around my dd. she always managed to locate one!

You can buy the clips and clip it to him then maybe he can find it on himself in the night?

Lullabyloo · 07/03/2007 16:23

i used to put 3 or 4 in with ds
chances are he would find one of them!

On another thread someone suggested tying it to a muslin cloth with a big knot so they can find it easily.

Perhaps he's actually just waking because of the pain or something else rather than for the dummy but the dummy soothes him back to sleep easily. If he didn't have it theres no saying he won't wake up and need some other method of getting back to sleep.

Thanks all - he was a bit better last night (we tried a few dummies in the cot and a muslin attached to one of them). I think you might be right gingerninja - after his bug he has now been a bit constipated so perhaps his tummy was feeling a bit grumpy. Strange now he's over the D+V he's developed a huge appetite and is eating us out of house and home!!! - now he's got food going through him the constipation is better.
