20 week old suddenly waking more frequently in night

My ds has always been good at sleeping from approx 6 weeks he was sleeping from 7pm through to 4 - 5am. However since he turned 4 months his waking has become more frequent usually twice in night. I would have put it down to a growth spurt but this has been going on for 4 weeks now.

Is this just a phase or do you think that it just somehting I will have to get used to. Should I be investing in heavy duty concealer

Any advice would be most appreciated!

teeth?

massagemum · 06/03/2007 13:37

My three all did this and i put it down to hunger. I started them on runny solids at 4 months to no ill effects!!

thanks for the ideas.

Is teething but nothing through yet.

Had thought about weaning, fruit/ veg puree etc. Especially as when he wakes he has proper feeds, not just for comfort. He is a big boy and has a lot of milk during day.

they stop hurning when they've broken through. tis the teeth and gum pain I think

Calgel and calpol - teething powder from Holland and Barretts too.

Boots do a good teething powder in their 'alternatives' range.

My DS doing the same - has been waking a lot for the past few weeks. I put it down to teeth as well - hope they come through soon!

If he's in a lot of discomfortm try baby ibuprofen as it lasts up to 8 hours. You can only give it once at this age, though.

LAG, We started 'Sleep is for the Weak' thread because our LO's did exactly the same. At about 17 weeks it went tits up for a while. Now it's getting back on track. Don't be fooled into thinking it's because they want weaning. (Milk is more calorific that a bit of pureed carrot) My DD got better (by no means perfect) of her own accord. I think it's a mixture of teeth and developmental. My DD has been teething since about 12 weeks and she still hasn't got any at 25 weeks. The move around in the gums causing pain.
