Rolling and waking up

DS is nearly 6mths and rolling over in his cot. I wouldn't mind except that he rolls himself into the bars of the cot and wakes himself up. It doesn't seem to matter how well we tuck him in, he still manages to roll.
What can I do about this? He has been sleeping through the night since 8wks but the last 2 nights we've had to get up twice to sort him out.
Any hints or tips would be most welcome.
Many thanks
Wellsie

Sorry, no tips, but interested in the responses you get. I've been having similar problems with dd2, 6.5 months, although there are other reasons as well that she's waking, as she is not always in an uncomfortable position. Does he go back to sleep quickly once you've moved him back to his normal position?

I'm having a similar problem but my dd is 4months and can only roll over onto her tummy and then gets stuck and wakes up! It's driving us mad, and short of strapping her down with bungy straps we haven't come up with any good ideas! And I have to change the sheet loads as she then dribbles for England!

I am bound to get a shocked response to this but it works. Here goes :-

DS (15 mths) used to roll over in the cot, pull himself up to standing, and would stay like this until he was dropping because he was so tired.

We now pull his arms back through the sleeves of his nightwear, stick him in a sleeping bag, and cover with a well tucked in blanket!

He is much happier as he's getting the sleep he needs - as are we!

We make sure that he's not too hot by leaving his vest off. If it's a really warm night, this still works with just a vest on.

I was wondering about tucking a blanket over her, it seems alittle more humane than strapping her down! Was worried about her overheating tho, as she sleeps in a sleeping bag... maybe a sheet would do?

Please rest assured that I definately would not recommend this to you if overheating was an issue.

The blanket I use is cellular so there are plenty of holes within the weave for air to move about.

We check on DS before we go to bed and he's always comfortable. We make sure there's air circulating through his room too by keeping his door open and if necessary, his window.

Just make sure DD's nightwear isn't too warm and the tog rating on the sleeping bag isn't too high.

I read on here a tip about putting rolled up towels under the cot mattress at the edges. I tried this as DS (9m) was somehow moving himself to the bars and getting stuck. It worked really well, but he doesn't roll over, so I don't know if it would prevent them rolling.

kittypickle, my ds has just gone into his cot; when you say rolled up towels worked, do you mean tucking a towel in between the mattress and the cot bars to keep the sheet covering him firm?
