Is my ds cold?

Ds is 5 months and has been waking pretty much every hour for the last couple of weeks. I assume sleep regression. I have however noticed tonight his hands and ears and cheeks are really cold. Even the back of his neck isn't that warm. His mattress in his cot is cold to the touch. He wears vest babygro and sleeping bag.

Do you think he needs another layer or maybe put a blanket on top of his mattress so it isn't as cold?!

I fine the gro bag recommendations cold

As a comparison, it was 18 degrees in our bedroom last night. At that temp as an adult I had a winter 13+ duvet, plus a thick bedspread on. 5 and 6 year olds have 9tog, blanket, warm pjs, vest and pants. So I'm sure we would all be frozen in just pjs and thin tog.

Blimey Art!! It's currently approx 18 in our room. We have a 6tog duvet on. I am wearing a nightie. That's it! Ds is in vest, pj's and 2.5 tog sleeveless bag.

Just checked, my bag with sleeves is a Slumbersac, made in China though.

DD is 3 months and in vest/babygrow/sleeping bag plus wool baby blanket on top. I also put a sheep skin under the fitted cot sheet in winter. It's 18-19 in our room.

Some people like to be warmer, some cooler. Upstairs I currently have:

  • 1 child in only pants, socks and 4.5 tog duvet. Desk fan pointing at his head. He'll probably have one leg out the duvet too. Likes to be cold but sometimes his feet get too cold (hense the socks)
  • 1 child in fluffy fleece onesie and a 14 tog duvet pulled up to his neck. He sometimes adds thick socks (not tonight)
  • 1 child in cotton short sleeved PJs, 9 tog duvet plus desk fan (mainly for white noise) pointing towards the bed.
  • 1 toddler in long sleeved vest plus cotton onesie plus 2.5 tog sleeping bag.

The temperature in the house is the same (about 18 deg), but they all have different preferences. These preferences have been evident since they were babies. Some like to be warm. Some like to be cool.

Well I put him in bed with us... Most he has slept for ages

There is your answer.

He may or may not be cold. Mostly though he wants more comfort and reassurance from you.

Have you tried a dummy?

How about a cosleeper cot? Just remove one side off any standard cotbed and it will be stable. Wedge it up to your bed and it becomes a cosleeper to cuddle into.

Yep in our bed again and slept 4 hours. Looks like co sleeping it is then!
