Sleeping bag safe for 1 month old?

Is it safe to use a sleeping bag for very young babies? Going to my dad's for new years and his house is very cold. Dd2 will be in a travel cot instead of her crib so it's gonna be hard to tuck her in with blankets.

Yes, I used them from birth. Much better than blankets.

Would one with sleeves be ok? The house gets cold at night but I'm still worried about her over heating.

Yes. If in doubt, take a layer off and put the sleeping bag back on, but mine were always fine and one was born in November.

My DD and DS are both teeny weeny babies (5lb 15oz and 6lb 9oz) and I have used them from birth.
My midwife told me about sewing a few extra stitches in the neck hole of baby is particularly small to make the hole a bit smaller and you can be 100% sure they can't slip down Smile worked a treat for my 2.

Thank you that's a load of my mind. She's not a small baby. She's not even 4 weeks yet and is already 10lbs so should be ok.

Gro Bags are from 8lbs8 (I think - please Google and double check!) so you should be fine. I actually put DD2 in one sooner with the excess at the bottom folded under her. But she has a big head too

Just checked it is 8lbs8 thanks. She was born 8lbs11 so I should definitely be ok!

I think the advice is from 8lb, so if she's 10lb she's good to go. Just check she's not to skinny and isnt going to get her head through the gap. My ds wears a 2.5tog sleeping bag. He has a long sleeved vest, then a sleepsuit and then his sleeping bag. My bedroom is between about 16-18 degrees and my baby is comfortable. If the rooms over 20 degrees remove a layer, so maybe a long sleeve vest and the sleepbag. I don't use any blankets on him.
