Getting 8 week old to stay asleep

elliej83 · 05/12/2016 02:09

I have an 6 week old who won't seem to stay asleep for longer than 10-15 mins.
Have tried lots of things. A dummy but as soon as it falls out he's awake, white noise but as soon as the app goes off it's the same.
I've read the Gina Ford method but I'm just not sure I can leave a baby to cry down at 6 weeks.

If you used a tuned out radio for white noise it wouldn't need to go off.

You can pay a little to upgrade the app and then the time is unlimited.

You can also set it to listen so that it will kick in when it hears baby .

(I'm assuming you have the same one as me, mines sound sleeper)

As much as I can't bear GF, she doesn't recommend any sort of controlled crying earlier than 6 months, does she?!

Where is your baby when trying to sleep? My firstborn slept on me for the first 4 months. Hearing you breathe/heartbeat is really soothing to them.

Bin the GF and read up about the fourth trimester. First 13 weeks from birth you should be recreating the womb for them - feed on demand, hearing you and your body (especially heartbeat), swaddling to recreate the lack of space etc.

Have you considered he may have trapped wind. Mine will do the same if he has a bit of wind. He was fall asleep but as soon as I put him down he will wake straight back up

He can't be serious... yes she calls it crying down but it's awful I couldn't do that to the little fella. We tried swaddling a bit more successfully last night so going to continue with that. xx

Get a sling, Pop him in there. He'll be warm and close to you, which will help him sleep. He'll also be upright, which will help if he's feeling uncomfortable on the digestion front.

Try a sling or co sleeping. It worked for my youngest Velcro baby.

Too young for anything but holding and swaddling.
