4mo sleeps fine in day then settling for night takes hours

She has 1-3 naps a day depending. She goes down perfectly and wakes up after around 45 mins to an hour.

I then come to do her bedtime routine, bath, massage, boob then bed. She goes to sleep for about 20 mins, then the screaming starts. The dummy is useless cause she screams whilst it's in her mouth she's become quite a pro at that as of late. If I get her up she screams, if I try to feed her she screams. Everything I do results in screaming. There are never any tears either really it is literally just screams! I am at a loss, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Evening cluster feeding is quite normal - whereby you settle yourself on the sofa with a cup of tea and the telly on and don't plan to move from about 6pm to about 10pm - baby just naps and feeds constantly in short cycles. No point in a dummy through the early evening - it's all about the calories. Feed, Feed, feed.

Further, sounds like way too little daytime sleep for a 4 month old. Baby must be exceptionally over tired and exhausted by the evening.

The awake time (between one nap and the next) for your average 4 month old would be 40-60 minutes. Then 30-45 minute naps are usual. Your baby having longer naps so awake times of about an hour would be reasonable.

It's not about the number of naps a day. It's not about te length of those naps either. It's awake time you want to watch out for.
