Since 5 weeks old dd has never napped.
Today since 7am we've had 10,5,10 minutes.
Yesterday 2,10,1 minutes naps.
I've tried
Naps on me
Co naps
Push chair walks
Bouncy chair
Cot
Less awake time
More awake time
Nap routine
Etc
Nothing works.
I have been working since 1 month old and at 9.5 months have got no where.

Sleeps through roughly 7-7.

Goes to sleep with dummy and comforter.

Just need support.
I spend most evenings when dp gets in in tears.
Dd cries all day from exhaustion. Never happy.

It takes me an hour each time to get her down as well

I don't know what to say to help, my son hardly napped, in the car he slept but at home he didn't really have a nap routine. Sometimes he'd fall asleep on the sofa. He's still a bit rubbish at bedtimes now, taking a few hours to get to sleep (he's 8) and then he'll join us in bed at about 2am.

I don't drive but she won't nap in my mums car either

How old is she now?

Timetogrowup2016 · 30/11/2016 17:14

9.5 months.
She's been like this since 5 weeks.

I honestly feel your pain, I had to cradle my son to sleep and then when he made a certain noise in his sleep I knew it was 'safe' to transfer him to his cot. The first time he slept through the night, I think he was about 2 or 3 I sent my husband to check on him in the morning as I was worried something terrible had happened. He's always been a terrible sleeper, he just cannot bear to be away from us but it gets better. It really does. You do get used to it. I had a blow bed next to my sons cot so I could just flake out in his room after being woken up, as he'd only go back to sleep if I held his hand! He's very clingy, sometimes I wonder why I even bought him a bed as it's usually me, my husband, our son and the cat all in our king size (thank god) bed!!!

I was obsessed that he had colic too, just so I could make excuses for him but I doubt he ever did!

FATEdestiny · 30/11/2016 19:06

She sleeps well at night though doesn't she Timetogrowup2016?

Maybe don't stress the daytime. Just relax about about it all. Play with her when you can, cuddle and chill if she's not up for playing. Lots of milk feeds for comfort followed by long cuddles.

Ditch your to-do list. Just focus on you and baby having down-time together. Time cozily relaxing is a good alternate if she can't sleep.

FATEdestiny · 30/11/2016 19:08

BusterGonad, it takes the benefit of hindsight, but I think that is true for most cases when colic is mentioned.

Timetogrowup2016 · 30/11/2016 19:12

Touch wood- she does, has done since 5.5 months old.
Occasionally she wakes. Normally I'll give her a dummy in her hand she'll put it in and go to sleep again at night. But in the day this doesn't work.
People suggest taking away her dummy ( by gosh I would never dream of that ) I love dummies. I don't think that's the issue here. She just struggles in the day time.
Yea I ditch the housework. We take walks and a bath calms her ( she loves a bath )
It's just come 8:30am she's allresdy eye rubbing and cranky, so I try a nap.
Come 3pm she's in full on meltdown mode.
I definitely try to relax about it but it's so frustrating when you can see she needs the nap. I even try to get her to nap on me ( what baby doesn't like cuddles ) but she screams for half an hour on me while I try and shush and re insert dummy etc.

Oh yes I used to think when dd was 6-8 weeks she had colic.
Then I realised she wasn't in pain. She was just tired. Very tired.

Lots of babies don't like to fall asleep in your arms. All of my children included. It's no big deal.

I've read lots of your posts op. You know the overriding thing that comes across? Despondency. Complete lack of hope that anything will get better and a hopeless feeling that there is absolutely nothing you can do about the situation.

This hopelessness can be a sign of depression. Its not unusual for PND to be diagnosed many months after the birth. Have you spoken to your doctor?

Timetogrowup2016 · 30/11/2016 19:48

Yes I am suffering with pnd and anxiety.
I have just been referred to cbt.
These last 8 months have been absolutely toughest time of my life for me.
I'm not in a great place but I hope to get their soon

You will do. Be kind to yourself.

*We take walks and a bath calms her ( she loves a bath )

Take four baths a day then. Or six or ten. And you can always jump in the tub with her.

Do you like the walking? If you do, then great. Make excuses to walk if you enjoy it. Borrow a dog. Fetch fresh bread/fruit/flowers every day.

If you don't like walking and are just doing it in the vein hope baby sleep, ditch it and relax in the warm instead. Of course take a stroll when you can, but don't make it a chore.
