More hell with going to sleep

Actually it's not just daytime naps but the odd evening too when she won't go off. I've had a real shit of a day and just need to let off some steam and ask something.

Why will DD cry and cry when in the cot or bed, then when I go in and touch her chest, she can just stop crying, turn her head to the side, close her eyes and make herself go to sleep?

This happens quite a lot. I try to help her go off straight away. She oftenn doesn't, so I go away for up to five minutes, during which time she has started to cry. I may have to go away two or three times, coming back to touch her chest and sooth her and then finally she decides she will go to sleep.

I think it so sad that she seems to be able to get off like this but after crying to various degrees and after me getting stressed to various degrees. It's so frustrating because she makes herself go to sleep before my very eyes but always after so much palaver. There's more hassle too later when she wakes up after 25 mins but that's another story.

Anyone know how I can get her to realise that if she would only go straight to sleep as she is clearly able to do, granted with me there, neither of us would get so peed off?!

Purp, can only sympathise. Am currently listening to my own dd crying herself to sleep, so am obviously not the person to give advice! However, if I go in, it only makes my dd more hysterical, so at least your presence provides some comfort! Maybe she just wants to know that you will come back...Have had the waking up after 25 mins thing myself - oh, the sinking feeling! Just when you thought it was safe...Good luck.

Ellaroo thanks for the sympathy. I'm so knackered tonight, I'm glad you are out there somewhere hearing my plight My sympathy to you though re your dd getting more hysterical when you go in. Crazy days eh?
