DD is nearly 7 months old. Has pretty much always woken up for a feed twice a night and tends to end up in bed with me, although I do return her to the cot (sometimes successfully, sometimes not!) She's still in our room so not sure if we should move her first? With our eldest, dp would go and offer water in a bottle but he was a much more chilled out baby, he would take a bottle and he was in his own room.

On the plus side DD will take water from a sippy cup. Any tips gratefully received!

Omg. Last night the baby was fine - asleep quickly and until 4am. Why oh why then was I awake from 1.05 until after 3.30?!?!

He slept from 4 -5 after a quick resettle but of course I didn't. So effectively I slept from 10pm -1.05. I'm going to bed soon I think.

Manatee just wanted to say thanks for mentioning the 'what worked for us ' thread...have tried it the last 2 nights and have been really pleased with results so far! Minimal crying, a lot more time awake for me but I have a comfy mattress by dd2s cot. Last night was the first night she slept in her cot all night. I fed her twice and had to do a few settles but it was a big improvement on before. Going to keep trying - first feed last night at 1am, the latest she's ever gone before is 11.30! So im hopeful. Thank you. Obviously it could all go wrong still, but it's a step in the right direction x

Hiya everyone, some good results!

DS is waking about 11 ish having a quick cuddle and going back to sleep. He's waking at 4:30ish and I just keep pulling him into bed with me but not feeding him till after 5. I need to try settling him in his cot, but I'm so tired I go on auto pilot but he's just fidgeting and not sleeping.

Still a bit poorly, couldn't get him to sleep until I gave him a pillow and he's been sound asleep since!

Bit of asset back here. Ds has not been right for a good few days but Thursday his cold came out (of his nose mostly) and he has been really under the weather. Woke at 8.30 pm and cried, a lot. Co slept from then on. Up a couple of times in the night. Friday, took ages to go to sleep but not too bad, but ended up bf overnight as couldn't settle any other way, that's the first time since I started this. Tonight, couldn't get him to fall asleep in cot, hips absolute Agony so I wasn't up to holding/wrestling him. Ended up laying on the bed and bf to sleep which I've not done for months. And now I can't get him off the bed. Or indeed myself, as I'm in too much pain.

Hope we can get back on track once he's better.

I'm currently night weaning my co sleeping 20 month old. I've taken to crossing my arms firmly over my chest and saying "No, its sleepy time"
She cries for about 30 secounds each time then goes back to sleep.
Once this is established- the next step will be her own bed in a different room. Can't bloody wait.

golfmonkey · 27/11/2016 08:48

Oh dear nottalotta, sorry to hear it's gone wrong. Here too - I've been awake the majority of the night and my poor dd1 is getting no attention from me as I'm obsessed with dd2s sleep. Hoping things get better soon, am going to persist but it's hard!

Sparrowlegs248 · 27/11/2016 09:11

Up since 4.24 today Golf. But he has a stinking cold, not that it makes me feel any better. Sitting myself at the thought of the next one arriving in ten weeks.

WalrusGumboot · 29/11/2016 00:06

Sorry to hear things not going well Notta and Golf. Didn't realise you're expecting Notta! Try not to stress out too much eh x

Unlimited, 30 seconds? I could deal with that I think Smile keep us posted on your progress if you can.

There may be some hope for us! Dd just fussed in her cot so I got up fully expecting to bring her back to bed for a feed. Then she kind of snuggled in a bit and I just stood and rocked her for about five minutes with my cheek against hers and she drifted back off. Result! Now, back to sleep for me before the next wake up call...

Good progress walrus! I am feeling incredibly overwhelmed at the thought of #2 arriving, all of a sudden. Hope it's just a blip with tiredness and ds being poorly.

He did go to sleep in his cot tonight, with a little bit of persuasion, but woke up very soon again coughing. I sat on the bed cuddling, poor mite would sleep cough cry. Gave some tixylix (wasn't convinced) and it seemed to help. He just woke briefly at 1.45 and I topped up calpol. Feel like I'm.pumping him full of drugs atm. But he went back off very well. I've come down for a cuppa, nose stuffy and sore throat myself.

golfmonkey · 29/11/2016 09:05

Everything seems harder in the winter when it's freezing at night and everyone gets bugs, rubbish! I gave in and fed dd2 when she woke and brought her in bed at 2 am. ..I know it's important to be consistent but I was at a bit of a breaking point yesterday so just needed the rest. Going to give formula tonight to see if it fills her up for longer though will prob just mean i am up for longer making a bottle and get evenue less sleep

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/12/2016 07:43

Hope everyone is getting on OK. Ds is better, and has 'slept through' the last four nights! He wake very early, 4.30, 5.55, 4.30+4.45 for the last four mornings, but this is,easier to deal with when I've been undisturbed at night. Apart from the general pregnancy discomforts... . I have been bf on wake up, and getting another 30-45minutes snoozing.

golfmonkey · 08/12/2016 13:32

Well done nottalotta! Formula hasn't made much of a difference to dd's sleep but it does mean my DH can help and so I feel better having had some sleep! She's gradually getting better and we are down to 3 feeds at night, and only 2 laSt night with much fewer waking in between. Dd comes into bed between 4.30 and 7am depending on her night! Slow progress but no leaving to cry so im ok with it. I'm not against cc as a rule, I just think I am too weak! Trying to.teach dd2 how to find and put her own dummy in now, she's almost 8 months so I reckon by age 1 she should get it???

Hope everyone else making progress...

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/12/2016 20:07

You're doing well golf, ds is 16 months old so I'm way behind you. I couldn't do cc. Or any crying really!

Once a fortnight we stay at my parents as they have him Thurs and Fri while I'm at work, it's easier for me and ds for me to come here after work Thursday and stay over. So that's tonight. He's had two car naps today, each on the school run (mum has a foster child) so although not large amounts of sleep it's meant he wasn't too tired this evening and dropped off about ten minutes ago. Fx for a lay in.....

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/12/2016 20:08

Re dummy etc, ds didn't have dummy or bottle. The next one will be firmly introduced to both from an early age!!
