Hi.
How old is your child?
Are they bottle or breastfed?
What do they sleep like currently?

amysmummy12345 · 27/10/2016 01:45

Dd1 is 3 (September birthday) still wakes up once a night on average... Dd2 is 5 months, breastfed, up every thee hours roughly... If I'm lucky they each get up once at different times, if I'm unlucky it's four 😓

confusedandemployed · 27/10/2016 01:54

Depends on age, feeding method....and most of all the child themselves. I have no doubt I was proper lucky. DD was diurnal in utero, so always knew day from night and was sleeping through by 8 weeks (I counted 9pm-5am as sleeping through at that age). Had a dream feed to keep topped up.
My good friend, on the other hand, still had her DD2 up with her at 10pm aged 20months...
I don't mean to gloat. I was clumsily trying to make the point that it's a lottery. I was expecting years of no sleep.

After 6 months there are ways of helping them to sleep more in the night, as I'm sure you know. Before then though, I believe you just have to roll with the punches.

How old is your baby? How is their sleep overall?

Sparrowlegs248 · 27/10/2016 19:21

Still waiting at 15 months.

pizzapop · 27/10/2016 20:53

Nearly 1 and still waiting Brew

Littleelffriend · 27/10/2016 20:54

5 weeks

specstest · 27/10/2016 20:57

8 months with a bit of hit and miss at various points.
My new baby is now 6 months and I'm praying for xmas to come early ha ha

strandedabroad · 27/10/2016 21:04

Midnight-8 from 7 weeks, currently 10 weeks and trying to put him down earlier. I'm aware we do it differently from most people but I'd rather have him sleep longer in the morning at this stage!

Ellieboolou27 · 27/10/2016 21:12

Dd 1 took 3 years
Dd 2 9 weeks

NerrSnerr · 27/10/2016 21:16

Age 2 she sleeps through most of the time now, only since she turned 2 though.

ShyTallSun · 27/10/2016 21:20

About 10 months for DS1 and still trapped in sleep deprived hell with DS2....18 months old and wakes 5-6 times a night. Sometimes he self settles, other times he needs cuddles....for hours.

star15 · 27/10/2016 21:29

DD 5 weeks 10pm-6am still a brilliant sleeper.
DS is only 3 weeks but is only getting up roughly once from 11-5/6 so I'm pretty happy with that.

I think it all down to luck.

SilverLinings2014 · 27/10/2016 22:05

54 weeks. I know exactly because it was a week before Christmas and felt like the best present ever Grin

Teeth or illness will scupper it of course but otherwise fairly reliable. Up by 6am every single day though Shock

Tootsiepops · 27/10/2016 22:11

My now almost one year old started sleeping through at 4 weeks old.

I will not discuss the 10 month sleep regression as it lasted months and I'm still battle weary

Pootle40 · 31/10/2016 21:23

Both boys were 9/10 months old. Crawling was common with both but that might just be coincidence.

Introvertedbuthappy · 01/11/2016 09:30

3 years old for my eldest. My 6.5 month old slept through from 14-19 weeks old and since then is up at least 4 times for hours at a time :(

Timetogrowup2016 · 01/11/2016 09:43

Dd has been sleeping through some nights since 6.5 months

welshgirlwannabe · 01/11/2016 09:56

Ds1 - 22 months, followed by a series of regressions, periods when he would, periods when he wouldn't.... sleeping through pretty reliably by about 3. Now 14 and is bleary eyed getting out of bed at 11.00 Grin

Ds2 is 7 months and is down to on or two feeds a night, so I often get 4-5 hours at a time. This to me feels sustainable and has helped me stop obsessing about sleeping through. It will happen eventually but there is nothing I can do to speed it up really.

You can't really compare babies as some of them are just good at it and others aren't! You just need to find ways of making your situation better or bearable. This could mean going to bed super early, co-sleeping, sleep training etc. ..

Are the nights horrendous at the moment?

usernoidea · 08/01/2017 19:36

When you lot say sleep through you mean they don't wake up at all?
I may only feed once during the night now but there are sometimes huge blocks of baby being awake/chatty/noisy during the night!
