can anyone help me out - my 14 week old ds has been sleeping from 10.30/11 until 7/8 since he was 6 weeks. but in the last 2 weeks he has started to wake at around 3.30 and then every 1/2 hour until 6, then he will fall back into a deep sleep and i often have to wake him up sometimes at 9 o clock.
When he wakes i settle him back with his dummy but he only settles for about a half hour before i'm up to him again. I don't know if he is waking for his dummy or for a feed. But i'm not sure it's s feed as i can't really get him to take his feed when i do wake him up in the morning. he will only take about 4 oz. he is a big boy - 15.7lb.
i'm just so tired that i can't see what the problem is - plus i have a ds 2.9 who also doesn't sleep so i'm pretty much up all night with them both!!! help please!!!!! thanks
sandra

Aargh. know what you mean. Have dd1 (3 yrs) and dd2 (6mths)
Can be up 10 times some nights between them.
Could be about to growth spurt. Does he take his feeds during the night?
I don't care what the HV's and experts say, my dd2 was ready to wean to food at about 16 weeks, as wasdd1. If your son is a big boy then he may be hungry and need food.
I started dd2 with a meal at about 6 or 7pm. Then bf.
Dd2 doesn't have dummy, but dd1 often woke and needed "replugging".
Really hard to say. Most babies sleep patterns alter regularly as they grow and teethe etc.
Unpredictable little gits aren't they.{grin]

hi sandybee1, have to agree with bandofmothers, they are unpredictable little so and so's, as lovely as they are!
you forget as well, which is probably a good thing or the population would stop increasing quite so much!! when he's reawaking after 1/2 an hour, does he still have dummy in mouth, if so, sounds like he may be hungry. my lo went through numerous!! some nights, she seemed to feed non stop.
how often is lo feeding during the day, is there any way you can increase frequency or volume to top him up? just a thought
my dd seems to have levelled off now i'm weaning her, but is still awaking and i await the next growth spurt
havent got another lo (just a 12 year old)keeping me awake too, so sympathise with you on that one. big hugs

Are you feeding him when he wakes at 3:30?
Cos if he wakes every half hour he could be hungry. DD2 is 6 mths and she still has a night feed

Hi, thanks so much for the responses, sorry i've not been back for ages - my flippin computer died and i've just got it back!!! Felt like i'd lost a limb without it!!!
I have started to wake him at 10.30 for his feed - i was doing a dream feed and i think he was getting too much sleep - was going down at 7/8pm. This has helped a bit he is now waking between 4.30/5,30 but is going back asleep after about 30 mins. I stopped feeding during the night at 6 weeks as he didn't seem to need it but i did start again as i thought he might be hungry but it didn't make any difference so i've stopped the feed again. I think i will start to wean him this week - he's 16 weeks and is very big for his age so i think he just needs food! I know it goes against what the HV says but you've got to go with your instinct! I'll let you know i get on.

many thanks again for the support and sorry if you thought i was ignoring your responses.
