ds (20mo) - always has been an early riser (ave. 5:45ish)

but will nap for hours in the day if i let him (up to 3 hours)

so tough mummy time decided last week i would start limiting his nap time to an hour. seemed to work - was waking between 6:15 and () 7:10!!

now he's got a cold which has kept him awake a bit in the night. he woke at a minute to 6 this mornign (boo) and he's been knackered all morning.

should i let him sleep longer today or stick with the hour's nap?

sleep as long as he wants

Personally, I would let him have a 2 hour nap, but no longer.

you mean in general, lulu, or just while he's ill?

Let him sleep. Help him get better. Move bedtimes by 15 minutes very 2-3 days until you get him sleeping when you want him to. Mine used to have one hour nap in the morning, another 2-5pm and then be asleep for the night from 7pm to 8am.

bedtime timing appears to make feck all difference to when he wakes nab -- hence me persevering with the shorter daytime nap thing

may have been a fluke that he slpet later in the mornings this last week, but boy i hope not

When ill sleep as long as they need. Otherwise keep to the new routine.

Limiting his nap to 1 hour is obviously working brilliantly (!) but when they are poorly they do need a bit more day time sleep IMHO. If he's had a bad night then let him have a couple of hours. If he's overtired tonight he won't sleep well at all.

thanks piglit

well, i think when they are poorly, definitely more sleep..but i tend to let DD sleep as much as she needs in the day or she is unspeakable ! she can sleep up to 3 hours too !
