Does any one have any advice as to what sort of age i should be putting my DD in a bed? She is 19 months and sleeps fine in her cot but i was wondering if its the right time to try the bed. thanx.

I have read it's ok from 18 months provided room is childproofed.
DS transferred to a bed age 2.4. We wanted to try from age 2 but the bed we ordered on super special offer took ages to arrive. He did a fair bit of taking advantage of the freedom and leaving his room.
DD transferred age 19 months because she was starting to try to climb out of her cot. She has a mattress on a bed base just 15cm from floor in case of falls. On her rare escapes from bed the door handle is still out of reach so she has not been able to leave the room (found asleep on floor).
Good luck.

i put both my dd's in a single bed at 18 mths, dd1 because we needed the cot for dd2! and it worked so well i did it with dd2 as well

we did use bedguards tho, but not for long, it was more for my peace of mind than anything else

and i would say, dotn bother with junior beds or anything, jsut buy a bog standard single bed

Depends on the child IMO. I moved DD1 from cotbed (bigger than cot) to bed aged about 18 months but only because she was climbing to the top and falling out. I moved DS from cotbed to bed aged about 3 as he seemed pretty happy in it and could climb out without hurting himself.

If there are no problems, I'd keep her in the cot!! DD was in hers till 2yrs 9 months (partly due to house move) - she could climb in and out herself safely for at least the last 6 months she was in there.

I would second what Bramshott says. We only moved ds at 2 because dd was due. It has been a bit of a pain with getting out of bed (especially at 5.30am!).
With dd she'll stay in there until she climbs out or outgrows it

right my mind is made up - she is going to stay in her cot until she attempts to climb out. I love my sleep and as you have pointed out to me there isn't much point in having my sleep broken to put her back in her bed just for the sake of it when she sleeps happily in her cot. Thanks for all your advice.
