blackout curtain linings - worth getting?

I'm thinking about getting blackout curtain linings for my dd's room - she's 7 months and currently sleeps until 7.00 am which is great, but I want to make sure she doesn't start waking earlier when the mornings get lighter. I've heard good things about blackout linings - I do worry though that if she gets used to them she will then have trouble sleeping when we go away if the room is lighter. Anyone got any experience of this? Also, where's the cheapest place to get them? Thanks!

anything you can do to darken the room before the sunrise gets earlier s worth it. Can't say where from though. My friend used to put cardboard up at the windows in the winter - worked a treat

Yes, I bought a blind and I think they are good even now for my 3 yr old and myself when on nightshift.

Worth every penny. We got ours from a local fabric/curtain shop. I think Next do curtains already lined with blackouts.

Oh yes, and IKEA have cheap roller blinds made of blackout fabric.

Yes! 50 weeks of peace vs a couple of weeks of mayhem on holiday per year...
A cheaper and more flexible option is to get a blackout blind, which has the lining sandwiched between ordinary roller blind fabric in various shades. John Lewis sell them and I'm sure other shops do too.

I bought these to use in our bedroom when Dd was sleeping in there with us, and they were quick and easy to use. Also have blinds in the DCs' rooms.

I bought blackout linings for our bedroom last summer when my dd was born as we have a very sunny bedroom and they worked brilliantly, I then bought some for dd's room when she moved into her cot but they dont work so well as she has a curtain pole rather than a track so it holds them away from the wall.

I would recommend them as my dd does wake earlier if it is light in her room. Not sure about cheapest place to get them as I bought mine from a local shop but think most places sell them.
