My 22-month old has surprised us by dropping his soother for sleep. We had been working on eliminating its daytime use, which was going well, and two nights ago, he bit through the only soother in the house. We were stunned when he actually slept the night through regardless. This is now night 3 without it (hasn't had it for naps either). Is it too early to celebrate? Do you think is the habit established? Are we soother-free?
I will be thrilled if it is gone. My nieces and nephews fiercely held on to theirs til well after two, so I was expecting an all-out war at some stage.
I'm mainly asking as he is a little unwell tonight with bad nappy rash and I wonder if I would be back at square one if I reintroduce it if I feel he needs it. He is thankfully sleeping now but if he does wake upset, would I be foolish to give it to him? Is the two-and-a-half nights without it enough for a good habit to bed down?
