Will a later bedtime equal a later wake time?

My 21 month old is waking just before 6am each morning. I would love just an extra half an hour in the morning. Has anyone had any success with a later bedtime equating to a later wake up time at this age? Thanks!

Worth a try if it really bothers you but for my toddler, it definitely doesn't and never has worked. Early bedtimes mean longer sleeps, late bedtimes mean waking even earlier.

I have seen others on here have success with the 'wake to sleep' technique but you'd want to be really brave to try it! Essentially you go and half-rouse the child a set amount of time (maybe an hour?) before their usual wake up time and being disturbed incites them to fall back into a deeper phase of sleep and sleep longer. Apparently after a few nights in a row, new wake-up time is established. I can't vouch for it personally through and you might just a end up having woken your toddler for the day at half-four or something.

My DD sleeps later if she goes to bed later. I never realised it was so unusual. She's just turned 2 and if she has even a sniff of a nap in the day she's running around and jumping past 11pm.
