dream feeding

How much success have people had waking up babies to feed before going to bed. My ds is 8 weeks and goes to bed around 6.30pm. He then either sleeps until midnight, or sometimes 2am or once 3.30am! I was thinking about waking him before dh goes to bed, around midnight, and then when he next wakes (last night he woke at this time anyway and then again at 4am) I might only be getting up once a night. But I'm a bit worried it might throw him off course and mess up the good work that has already been done (ie not waking up every 2 hours!).

Right.... I used to feed my DD before she went to bed at around 5.30 - 6.00pm. I'd then go in and do a dream feed (lights off, no talking, minimal touching etc) before DH and I went to bed at around 11pm. DD would then generally wake at 2.30am (ish) and then again at around 6.30am (ish). For us the 'dream feed' worked, I would recommend it !

I should also say that DD was never fully awake when we did the dream feed, it just seemed to be instinct that allowed her to feed whilst still semi-conscious. She even slept through the winding stage !!!!

Thanks! Sounds like I should bite the bullet and go for it then!

Dream feeding definitley works for us - DS gets fed before DH and I go to bed and doesn't wake up at all if I pick him up out of the cot. If DH gets him out of the cot then he sort of wakes and always looks happy to see us!

And then he sleeps until morning (but he is 6 months old).
