Is dummy my sleep nemesis?

DD2 is now 8mnths and has only slept through a few times. She no longer gets fed thru night (wakes at about 6 for b/f then goes back to sleep) have tried leaving her but doesn't always work. She still sometimes cries even when being cuddled (although not for as long).
She likes a dummy and one in each hand is this my main problem? or do some babies just not sleep. (She used to be brilliant at just falling asleep during the day but now seems to have stopped this too)

I know mine is impossible to settle without a dummy. We tried to get rid of it but after a week everyones nerves were shattered and I caved in and gave her it back. My DD isn't pacified with a cuddle but her dummy relaxes her instantly. Makes me feel useless but helps her so, as much as I don't like the thing, I let her have it. Some babies just love to suckle and frankly I'd rather have the dummy than have to go through CC. If she sucked her thumb whould you ask the same question? At the end of the day, you can get rid of a dummy when they're old enough to reason with. Until then, if it helps, I'd say just use it. We all need something to comfort us and she's too young for chocolate!!

You are right about the thumb thing DD1 sucked thumb but she could always find that herself so less of an issue that way. Just can't figure out why she is waking.

my dd is 6 months and she wont sleep without her dummy either, she stirs sometimes several times during the night but its always because her dummy has come out, as soon as I put it back in she goes straight back to sleep.

I have tried just like you to get rid of the dummy mainly to try and stop these wakings but a dummy is the only thing that settles her.

Sorry I dont have a solution to offer but you arent on your own!

I use MAM dummies and use their soother saver -that thing that clips to the dummy and their clothes.

We have a camera in wee ones room so we can see him wake, feel for the dummy as he knows it is on the end of the ribbon and puts it in his mouth.

He puts it in his mouth in the day too. He is 7 1/2 months but has been able to do this for a while, but he doesn't need the dummy to get to sleep every time. Sometimes he goes to sleep without it, but it saves rooting under the cot when you know that is where they have dropped it!!!
