The magical non-sleeping Flamespark - HELP!!!

10 months old and I'm starting to get a tad p*ssed off.

He goes to bed at 7.30pm... wakes about 11pm for a feed. Then sleeps til 4am - this I could do if at 4am he just had a feed and went back to bed until morning.

But no. 4am feed (last night even gave a bottle in the hopes he would be less snuggly), back to cot - screamed for about 8 mins (not a problem) and then fell asleep... then, about 1hr later, wakes, screams screams screams until he is fed. I have tried water - he gulps half a bottle, realises its not milk and screams somme more, so he ends up in with me because I'm exhausted and the proceeds to pinch and feed until its time to get up.

I don't know how to get him to do that 4-7am stint in his cot. Nothing we seem to try makes any difference - we've had 3 nights in a row before of being up until morning with him screaming whilst we try various methods, and not the teeniest change.

We're both tired. Too tired to stay awake with the screaming one and then function the next day plus the screaming wakes DD after a while Last week was meant to be the week fixing it, but DH and DS were both ill so it didn't happen.

I know its either just go with it or have a few weeks of pure exhaustion while we try and fix it... I think my biggest worry is doing it for a fortnight, it making sod all difference and still having no sleep

Had to come on and let you know. When I said earlier wking, this was not what I meant!

He's been wide awake and up since 4. i fed - no sleep. I cuddled - he squirmed. I had him in bed with us - he stands up and squeals and takes everything off the windowsill, and stands on dps head and dp gets cross with me.I bring him downstairs at 4 and he sits and plays nice and quietly.

Well I coped with an hour of hysteria (11-12) last night before I gave in and fed him.

He then woke at 4.15am and I fed him with me for half an hour, but he did then sleep in his own bed until half six.

Tonight... I'm sleeping at my mum's

Argh Jas - I take that as a sign that they want daddy and send him downstairs with em

Does he have no respect for DHW?

FlamesparrowThePirate · 04/01/2007 09:24

I couldn't hear the round up bit at the end because he was screaming so much

Agghhh - Jelley - I am feeling tired just reading that!
Flame ... at least he was in his own bed for a bit of that early morning slot?!?

Ours had an asolute strop at bedtime (she usually goes down fine...) ended up cuddled to sleep in our bed at 8:30 ... didn't hear a peep from her til she woke up jus after 6. Not sure if I'm she didn't wake all night or she was in with us!! Guess it does sort of suggest that the night time feeds aren't STRICTLY necesary (humm, sort of did know that...!)

sandcastles · 04/01/2007 11:25

Not sure how old he is, but is he old enough to swap the 4am feed for water?

I did this with dd & she realised she was only getting water & stopped waking after 3 nights.

Possible for your ds?

FlamesparrowThePirate · 04/01/2007 11:42

Whenever I offer water he drains about 4-5 oz of it, which makes me think he is actually hungry iyswim.
