Downstairs sleeping

Hi,

I'm a FTM struggling to think of where baby will sleep during the day. I have bought a Snuzpod for upstairs but don't fancy carrying this downstairs as it quite heavy.

I was thinking baby could sleep in the pram downstairs for naps but it's too big for our lounge area.

I was thinking of a sleepyhead but DH refuses to pay £100 for a pillow!!

Many ideas ??

Will it fit in any other area downstairs? Mine slept in the carrycot bit of the pram downstairs

Why can't baby sleep upstairs?

They are supposed to be where you are for daytime sleeps

Mine slept on the sofa, in a nest of cushions and pillows, or in the pram in the hall. Or in the pram on the patio sometimes in the summer.

Moses basket. Dd1 was always right next to me as I rested, dd2 was usually in the kitchen listening to an untuned radio whilst I dealt with dd1!

Sofa sleeping isn't recommended especially along with cushions and pillows. The other options sound good though.

On sheepskin rug on the floor. Can use as a playmat also and rug alone later on.

With first baby, I used to put him down on a lamb skin rug on the floor, reasoning that he couldn't fall off the floor. Second baby obv had a toddler running around so baby napped either in Moses basket (used to bring it downstairs in the morning) or later in a travel cot that I had in corner of living room. It also came in handy as a pay pen

My DD has always likes napping on her changing mat with a blanket on it, she preferred it to the Moses or carrycot.

Moses basket?
Padded but firm mat?
Make your own sleepyhead? Mines homemade- there are tutorials on the web and they are simple to make.
Mine has even been put down in a laundry basket with sheepskin in it once!
Is the pram carrycot removable/ safe for sleep? If so there's no need to wheel the whole pram in

My dd just used to feed to sleep and then sleep on me. Not ideal if you want to get stuff done but lovely cuddles! I had a moses basket that could go downstairs but they are quite expensive so that doesn't really help you. You could just make a little nest on the floor. Tiny babies can usually sleep anywhere (I found anyway although appreciate not all are the same!).

Oh and mine also used to sleep in her bouncy chair really well. Not sure what the advice is on that though. I think it's ok for naps as long as you're there too. Some bouncy chairs are very reasonably priced and are good for awake time too.

I had a separate bassinett downstairs. Turn out baby wanted to sleep on me anyway. He's only just started napping upstairs in his cotbed at 9 months

Ours slept in the carry cot part of the pram. You can also get Moses baskets cheap on eBay and then you'd only need to buy a new mattress.
